Was at the game last night. Wayzata rolled big time 24-7 (something like that at least) Couple of nuggets for those interested:
Crawford Tufts is fast, everyone could see that. However, he comes off as being a little soft. Hope I'm wrong on this, but he plays football like a track player with pads on. Scored a long touchdown in garbage time against 2nd/3rd teamers.
Conversely, Nick Rallis is a football player. A little undersized, but still in the argument for best player on the field last night (along with Wayzata QB). Nose for the ball and not afraid of contact. Laid some serious wood on Wayzata's RB to force a fumble that Edina ended up recovering (while the game was still close). Also a good RB - one of the better HS kids I've seen at picking up the blitz.
Edina CB Marley Allison (no idea if that's right) - excellent cover corner. Wayzata took a lot of shots downfield, but could never burn this kid. I believe he's only a sophomore too. Keep an eye on him. Good RB/WR as well.
One last note on Edina - QB (Carlson I believe) struggled a little bit. I doubt Crawford Tufts can put up huge numbers unless this guy becomes a little more consistent. He's a tough kid though.
Wayzata QB Sasha Doran - Man, tough not to root for this kid. He's got a great back story and was featured on ESPN's E:60 (Go See It!). Kid is good, really good. Good feet, good arm. A natural in the pocket. Throws well to his left and his right. Throws the out-route (or deep comeback, whatever you want to call it) on time and with some zip. Showed good touch on the deep throws too. Don't know much about his plans for the next level, but he can succeed if he wants to.
Wayzata's backup QB - Not sure what year he is, but he's gonna be a stud when he takes over (I'm assuming he isn't a senior). Wayzata is smart in that they'll trot him out there every fourth or fifth series - usually when there is decent field position. Wasn't afraid to let that thing fly the first time he touched the ball.
Wayzata RB Roth - Good player. Hard Runner
