I have a hard time with this competitive balance alignment garbage. Today is today, Woody is gone, Bo is gone and Joe Pa will be retiring soon. I would be ticked if I was a Wisconsin, Iowa or Nebraska fan. Are not those three in the last ten years combined close to OSU, PSU and Michigan? The thread line has the "WEST's" top three team ratings. NW played on New Years day last year and has been to a Rose Bowl in recent years. Illinois also recently played in a BCS game. Ohio State is #2, Penn St. #32 and Michigan #71. Other West: Minn #98, Ill #94, NW #40. Average Rank: 43.33

Other East: MSU #50, Ind #78, Purdue #39. Average Rank: 45.333

Going into this year, that looks like competitive balance.

I'll say it again. Competitive balance for the Big Ten includes making sure that the Top 4 "Brand Name" programs are split 2 and 2. I know that's not your interpretation of what it means. Its not mine either. I understand the logic, but feel like they are overthinking things. But our opinion doesn't matter, just like in expansion.

I fully agree with this, for the record.

Why is Delany such a strong driver of this? Isn't he supposed to act on his constituents behalf (the Big 10 AD's being those commissioners)?

Who is in support of this "competitive balance" argument, and why don't more AD's seem to be against it seeing as how most fans seem to be against it? Delany seems to be a man that has forgotten his job title and is now hungry for power (and money, they go hand in hand).
