We had a thread on nuclear versus solar/wind. How do you feel about nuclear?

I'm not opposed to nuclear. However, it seems like the cost to build new nuclear facilities in America has become prohibitively expensive along with being too politically divisive to get them approved.

Necessary and good. Far, far better than any fossil fuel sources, hands down in terms of general pollution, safety, and greenhouse gas emissions (near zero while operating). The only exception where fossil fuels should be used instead of nuclear is in cases where fuel portability is necessary, or for home heating. Any extra cost relative to fossil fuel power is small and easily coverable by subsidies. This is a no-brainer.

Let's expand it. The reactors can go in our big empty states to minimize any damage.
Just saw this thread. I always used to joke that Wisconsin should be the waste storage area.
