What has happened with his assistance in helping us find a coach for the future?? Haven't heard anything since he declined to take the position...was this just a nice way of saying he didn't want to coach??

I also heard December 15th is the day all coaching contracts expire, bonuses, etc. Are we waiting to see what happens?

I know Horton said February 15th is the date their checks stop.

Yes. Once he said he didn't want to coach there was no point in paying any more attention to him. The candidates he's pimping: Randy Shannon and Marc Trestman. The U wouldn't need Dungy's help (or anyone else's) to "land" either of those 2.

I think Dungy's role has been overstated. I'm sure Maturi is listening to his ideas but ultimately he's going to make up his own mind (along with Bruininks).

You shouldn't look directly at Tony Dungy. It's best to avert your eyes, lest you be turned to a small pile of ashes by his glory.

How do you know he isn't? His role isn't to put out media quotes, talk to you, or speak to anyone else other than Maturi. That's what a "consultant" does--consult with the person they are supposed to consult with.

I understand people wanting Dungy to be our head coach. But I don't understand why so many think it's a big thing to have him help in the decision. He's a great person and coach, but he's not a great ambassador for Gopher football in my eyes. You never hear him talk about the Gophers. Does he ever come to a game? Has he even been to TCF Bank Stadium yet?

Maybe he does follow the program closely, and I hope he does. He's just not someone who seems to promote the program in any way publicly.

I hope you're right...I just dont get why he also said he would help out indiana as well???
