I'm going to attend my first ever Gopher basketball game this Saturday, long time fan (and long time Gopherhole lurker), but this is my first opportunity to go to a b-ball game. My wardrobe choices are as follows:

*Maroon Gopher Football jersey
*Gray Gopher hockey sweatshirt
*Denim shirt w/ hockey gopher
*Something entirely unrelated to the Gophers

Which do I choose? Buying something new is not possible. I don't want to be the "dumb girl" that everyone points at because I didn't know the difference between a football and basketball jersey, cause I obviously do since I'm asking. Thanks in advance!

If you want to be noticed, wear some type of Wisky or Hogeye attire. That will do the trick. Otherwise, no one will care.

I hope this hasn't kept you up nights.

Anything with Gopher's colors works.

Anything with the other team's colors do not.

The best fashion statement you can make is with your voice.

Cheer loudly. :clap::clap::clap:

Spend your time washing car windshields with Windex, paper towels, and a really skimpy t-shirt. :)

If that is not possible, do not worry about your fashion statement...Wear Gopher colors and cheer loudly...Have FUN!

What a slimey comment. Who makes a comment with innuendo like that to someone you don't even know? Especially, to what would appear to be a young college student. Is there not a large red flag waving somewhere?

Yuck.

Don't make fun of this!

A friend of mine inadvertantly wore a PURPLE sweatshirt to a basketball game - and we lost to Northwestern that day A historic and tragic event for which she still carries the burden of responsibility.
I vote for the football jersey.

Tubby's first year here I believe his wife Donna wore a bright red outfit to a game I don't think it was a Wisconsin or Indiana game - but I don't believe she has worn it to Williams since.

Some people are so severely stuck in the 60's ....

Thank you to all! I just don't want to breach etiquette, as hopefully this will be my first of many games!!

Always wear Maroon or Gold or both.

I tend to enjoy wearing Maroon because maroon makes my eyes pop. Gold can make me look bigger, and I don't want that. I like wearing sweatshirts with hoods. Hoods offer a safe place to go to if I am scared or sad. I can simply pull on the hood and escape to a happy place. I also like sweatshirts that have that big front pocket. You can hide all sorts of things in that pocket. I like to stash at least one orange in there, as I can always use more vitamin C. You can also put your flask in there after you snuck it in to the barn. Be careful if you "crotch" it in the winter...wrap it in a paper towel if you worry about it. I tend to go with the sock move myself. Now that I have your attention: You might want to consider face painting. This can be a fun way to get noticed and show team spirit at the same time. I like it when people go with team colors on their face and then wear a Santa hat--you know, tis the season kind of thing. If you are a crier, make sure you get the correct kind of face paint. You don't want to look like Tammy Faye Baker do you? Hope this helped.

I hope you have a great time at the game! Wear what you want (I think it's still gonna be cold) and just be loud.

Gold is preferred. Maroon will do. The football Jersey.

Basketball attire

I vote for the maroon football sweatshirt worn inside out....or whatever you feel like that day.

freshtrout...back in the 60's we had a sense of humor. Too many people today have a lot of frustrations and fears, and as a result can not understand nor enjoy sarcasm and joking, hence the original smiley face. That is too, too bad.

Have fun at the Gopher game, zenniezou! And welcome to the GopherHole.

I think you should wear the Green Man Outfit. I haven't seen anybody in it lately, and I think a "Green Woman" would be ground-breaking.

No, that was sexist then, and continues to be a sexist today, which can get you fired or at least in a lot of hot water.... Keep calling sexist comments 'just humor' Dr.... and let us know how that works for you.

I am a Johnnie and attended when thye still had a real RAT PACK. My high school letter jacket was purple & we were playing St. Thomas in a packed house in about 1985. I was sitting in the front row of the rat pack with my purple jacket on. Two of my high school friends were on the St. THomas team & I sat next to them for part of the game on the bench (WTF? I know I know). Needless to say, I received a few dirty looks when I went back & sat in the front row of the Rat Pack again later during the game. Oops.
