Sad news. Wolitarsky has been a Blue Bomber since leaving the Gophers. Won 2 grey Cups (and lost 3).

Apparently released in late January because the Bombers would have owed him a $12,000 CAD bonus on February 1. I like the CFL but man it is a mickey mouse league at times. Because he is considered Canadian, I assume he can find another team, not sure if he will bother though- the 100K Canadian salary may not be worth his while.

Releasing a player who has been with you for 8 successful seasons right before paying a $12K annual bonus (8,314 USD) is an all-time cheap-ass move.

Even most boring white-collar jobs would frown on this, and they would also be paying bigger bonuses. Mine was much larger than that this year and I'm just a mid level corporate working stiff.

On the bright side at first I read it as deceased.

Pretty sure you make more than Wolitarsky. CFL is a minor league. Not that long ago, BC lost a starting O-line mid-season because he got accepted into the Vancouver Fire Department.

Bombers also just released Adam Bighill, all time great linebacker/ good community guy and are not getting good press at all in Winnipeg. Bombers need community buy-in and cutting popular players doesn't help.
