Kesich was named the Big Ten Kicker of the Year in 2023
University of Minnesota kicker Dragan Kesich was named to the 2024 Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award watch list today. Kesich is one of 30 student-athletes on the watch list and is one of seven Big Ten kickers to be recognized.
Kesich is a familiar name to the committee as he was a semifinalist for the Lou Groza Collegiate Place-Kicker Award in 2023, which was the same year he was named the Big Ten Kicker of the Year and was recognized All-Big Ten First Team.
Last year, Kesich served as Minnesota's primary kicker and he made 23-of-27 field goals and 27-of-27 point after attempts to lead the team in scoring with 96 points (ninth most points in a single-season in school history). On field goals, he was 1-of-1 from inside 20 yards, 6-of-6 from 20-29 yards, 8-of-10 from 30-39 yards, 5-of-6 from 40-49 yards and 3-of-4 from 50 or more yards. His season-long field goal was 54 yards (tied for fifth-longest made field goal in school history), which he accomplished twice (vs. Michigan and at Ohio State).
His 23 made field goals ranks second in school history and his 85.1 field goal accuracy percentage ranks third. Kesich had a streak of 10 straight made field goals during the season, which is tied for the fifth longest in program history.
He also kicked off 62 times and recorded 53 times for a touchback percentage of 85.48% (tied for fourth in the nation).
Kesich and the Gophers open the season against North Carolina at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 at Huntington Bank Stadium. The game will be broadcast nationally by FOX and can be heard on the Gopher Radio Network.
