These teams at least have a sniff at being 1 of the final 4.

The Unbeatens
Clemson
Iowa

1 Loss
Alabama
Baylor
Florida
Michigan State
North Carolina
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Oklahoma
Oklahoma State

2 Losses
Michigan
Stanford

Unless they can beat FSU win the CC game comfortably, you can eliminate Florida. They looked terrible against an awful FAU team. The offense has been well below average since the PEDs thing with their QB. Would love to have their defense though.

What is the scenario where Michigan makes it in?

Michigan scenario

What is the scenario where Michigan makes it in?

Good question, here's what I'd say:

1. Michigan beats OSU.
2. Penn State beats MSU
3. Michigan beats Iowa. ... That's the simple part.

Then:
1. North Carolina wins ACC.
2. TCU beats Baylor. Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma.
3. Stanford beats Notre Dame but loses to 3-loss team in Pac 12 title game.
4. Florida loses to Florida State. Alabama loses to Auburn. Florida beats Alabama.

That leaves us with these champions:
ACC: 1-loss NC
B1G: 2-loss Michigan
Big XII: 1-loss Oklahoma State
Pac 12: 3-loss UCLA/USC
SEC: 2-loss Florida

Others: 1-loss Clemson, 2-loss Notre Dame

I would like Michigan's odds in this scenario. The absolute minimum requirements are winning the B1G, Clemson losing, Oklahoma losing, Alabama losing, and Notre Dame losing.

Long shot, yes, but there is a scenario out there for Michigan.

This is awesome.. thanks.

Does Michigan have the three way tiebreaker? It's probably based on CFP ranking and I don't know that MSU would drop behind Michigan

A 1-loss SEC champion is in for sure. The best case scenario is Florida loses to FSU, then beats Alabama somehow. That would leave the SEC out of the playoffs (probably).

I think a 2-loss SEC or B1G cone champion is essentialy equal to a 1-loss ACC or Big 12 team, and I believe the CFP will see it the same way.
