Dorrell presser

Everybody wants to win right away from the get-go.

Love that one reporter referred to the MN O line as “as good as you are going to see” in terms of what Colorado is going to run up against this season. It’s looking more and more like the line this season is a reload and not a rebuild.

appealing 3rd quarter targeting ejection of safety Trevor Woods...says it is a long shot

says impressed with Tanner's understanding of offense, knows what Trey can do from last year, says starter (Mo) looks really good too, big o-line,

love that they have had an easy non-con to get to have Filiaga gel with JMS and Axel...get Carroll up to speed...let Ersery find some things out in extended live action...also able to get reps for Martes, Boe, Shaw, Guedet, Cooper, young Rusch...Kallerup looks good blocking in two TE sets...like LeCaptain in fullback sets...

The more he talked, the more I felt that we’ll win. Just doesn’t sounds like a confident or a motivational coach.

So there was a point when you felt Gophs wouldn't win?

We shall see in a couple weeks.

Several years ago he coached a UCLA team that played in the Las Vegas bowl. They had a couple of practices at UNLV, I watched one for about 10 minutes. That team did not look confident, motivated or organized. Its not good policy to make a judgement on such scant observation, but I was not impressed.

Karl Dorrell seems to know what they are up against this week.
He's really looking for just anything good from his team's performance. Just looking for something to build on, but he also seems to have a sense of reality that this might be close to hopeless this week (although no coach would say that of course).

Losing this game would be a bigger surprise than losing to Bowling Green last year.

Will he make it the whole season without getting fired?

Colorado had 22 players transfer out since last season. 22! Six of them starters. Program is in rough shape.

Just got my answers from a Colorado reporter. let’s just say it’s going to be a long year in boulder.

This is why I'm thrilled to have PJ as our coach, and our team where it is now. With the transfer portal, it's going to be next to impossible to build up again. I know Nebraska is getting beaten to death on this board, but teams like them, Colorado, etc. - if they happen to land a few recruits that pan out better than expected, they won't hang around for 4 years helping the rebuild - they'll transfer to better programs, like Wan'dale Robinson to Kentucky and Spielman who then transferred to TCU.

Karl Dorrell seems like a great guy, but maybe not the strong and inspiring coach you might need to rally the troops. The fact Sanford was brought in as an OC is a bit concerning if that's the best he could get talked into that position at Colorado.

So many players transferring out has to be tough, and it's hard to come down hard on the little talent that stayed loyal to you.

I mean, we've all been blind sighted by bad losses where the Gophers simply didn't show up, but they gave up 41 and 38 in the last two games where the opposing teams passed for less than a combined 150 yards (mainly because they didn't have to do more than run the ball).

Currently they are throwing the ball at about 4.6 yards per attempt.

6 were starters or significant contributors.

Or transfer portal is likely helpful for rebuilds?...Gophs also had 23 guys transfer out...which actually cleared scholarship room for guys like Carroll, Filiaga, Baugh, Bishop, Stapp, Jefferies, Surgers

In the old, old days (Barry Alvarez) a new coach could purge the roster....then the NCAA punished teams for not keeping guys on scholarship or not graduation (APR)....a new coach couldn't bring in experienced guys ready to play as easily in old format, they had to sit out a year...look at what MSU did in portal when Tucker came in....very quick rebuild....a team like NE may have NIL money to speed up rebuild even faster (buy a third string rb from Minnesota, for example).
