I see in that link that Matt Limegrover is a finalist for the head coaching job at Southern Illinois.

Per source, AJ Blazek is joining Chris Ash’ staff at Rutgers

This is ridiculous. Make excuses, but this should not take this long.

Agree, if it is going to be someone who's season is done, but no problem if:
1) the OL-coach's current team is still playing.
2) the OC-coach's current team is still playing and they want to let him pick the OL-coach.

We cooled on him.... Claeys saw in a highlight tape that his o-line gave up a sack once.
In your experience, how long should it take? Thanks in advance.
Since he obviously had been thinking of canning Limey for some time, it would be logical to think he had some folks in mind before doing it. You must be a true believer and probably predicted an offensive juggernaught under Limey this year. HC's have to juggle lots of things and Claeys has not done this before. The right guy might have a job before the coaching convention happens. Should we let every other school make their pick and then have first choice of the rejects?
Let me know if I can explain anything else to you. Happy to help in the spirit of the holidays.

Claeys has his guy, but no signed contract. That's the danger. Many here have stated their opinion that the sentence in bold is correct, and that Claeys is simply waiting for his guy to finish the season with his current team. If Claeys hasn't started his search in earnest yet, then there is reason to panic. However, I'm not sure anybody believes that's the case.

How about Joe Tripodi, NIU line coach? Bowl game is tomorrow (Wed). Would love to see Brad Salem get the OC job.

I can't remember who said it, but some coach was taking about the interviewing and hiring process, and said something to the extent that every assistant coach has a list in his head of the guys he would like to hire for his staff if he ever landed a head coaching job.
Claeys is often described as someone who eats, sleeps and drinks FB - a very analytical guy. Based on that, I am willing to bet he had candidates in mind even before he pulled the plug on Limegrover and Z.
And - Claeys has said he did not expect to hire an OC until the coaching convention. It's his team - it's his time. He knows better than anyone that this could be his one shot at a head coaching job.
All the worriers and whiners need to take a valium, or 2 or 3, and relax. Claeys will hire an OC and an OL coach when he's ready.
It's more important to get these hires right than to get them done fast. Even if it somehow costs the U a recruit or 2.
