From what I could find seems like an alright candidate for a line coach.

Reported on Twitter he is joining the Rutgers staff

I see in that link that Matt Limegrover is a finalist for the head coaching job at Southern Illinois.

This is ridiculous. Make excuses, but this should not take this long.

Par for the course for Doogie.

We cooled on him.... Claeys saw in a highlight tape that his o-line gave up a sack once.

Agree, if it is going to be someone who's season is done, but no problem if:

1) the OL-coach's current team is still playing.

2) the OC-coach's current team is still playing and they want to let him pick the OL-coach.

How about Joe Tripodi, NIU line coach? Bowl game is tomorrow (Wed). Would love to see Brad Salem get the OC job.

So you are the expert on how long this should take? If we hire someone not currently coaching, then it took longer than needed. Until then, the most ridiculous part is your claim that it's taking too long

Does anyone know what kind of offense Brad Salem ran at Augustana? Has he done much read option? Would he be a good fit for what we want to do on offense?

Neither should matter.

Much more interested in the RIGHT choice than a speedy choice. TC knows his future hinges largely on these two hires. He'll pick the guy he wants when he wants

In your experience, how long should it take? Thanks in advance.

Since he obviously had been thinking of canning Limey for some time, it would be logical to think he had some folks in mind before doing it. You must be a true believer and probably predicted an offensive juggernaught under Limey this year. HC's have to juggle lots of things and Claeys has not done this before. The right guy might have a job before the coaching convention happens. Should we let every other school make their pick and then have first choice of the rejects?
Let me know if I can explain anything else to you. Happy to help in the spirit of the holidays.

If history repeats, the names of the new OL coach and OC will not appear anywhere on this site before they are announced by Claeys.

Many here have stated their opinion that the sentence in bold is correct, and that Claeys is simply waiting for his guy to finish the season with his current team.

If Claeys hasn't started his search in earnest yet, then there is reason to panic. However, I'm not sure anybody believes that's the case.

TC has known that this would be a very real possibility for the last SEVERAL years. I'd be shocked if he didn't have a list of candidates in his head, for most positions on the staff, for a few years or more prior to taking over the gig officially.

Claeys has his guy, but no signed contract. That's the danger.

I can't remember who said it, but some coach was taking about the interviewing and hiring process, and said something to the extent that every assistant coach has a list in his head of the guys he would like to hire for his staff if he ever landed a head coaching job.

Claeys is often described as someone who eats, sleeps and drinks FB - a very analytical guy. Based on that, I am willing to bet he had candidates in mind even before he pulled the plug on Limegrover and Z.

And - Claeys has said he did not expect to hire an OC until the coaching convention. It's his team - it's his time. He knows better than anyone that this could be his one shot at a head coaching job.

All the worriers and whiners need to take a valium, or 2 or 3, and relax. Claeys will hire an OC and an OL coach when he's ready.

It's more important to get these hires right than to get them done fast. Even if it somehow costs the U a recruit or 2.

Amazing to think that every team has their staff complete, how will we ever compete. (Trying to not let facts cloud my pissy negative thoughts about how this is so bad for us). We are doomed
