Here's the thing. We didn't have Gray against Iowa. We don't have him for over half the Northwestern game and when we did he gets over 50 yards rushing passes really descent and scores ten of our 13 points and is on the only drive of 2nd half where we do get points. Also we did have mistakes on offense and defense but if you really think about it nothing would've really mattered if it wasn't for that kick off fumble and heck we still had a chance to tie it at the end for god sakes where shortell was struggling. We just can't determine how good or bad this team really is without our starting quarterback like Gray and having sloppy turnovers like on special teams that you never see. I know we should be prepared for a situation without your starting QB but when are a young team like us with no senior leader WR's on the field and a very young o line we miss Gray a lot. No kickoff fumble we win that game because especially at the end when we were 5 yards away from that endzone, chip shot field goal to win and also we will never know that outcome of the Iowa game without Gray. Gray is just impactful for our offense being he can get us those extra yards for 1st downs and TD's that Kirkwood with our young and very inexperienced o line can't and shortell who struggles with hitting guys on his passes, he is very helpful to our offense. In the Wiscy game even if we don't get a sloppy turnover or even no turnovers at all, if shortell is QB we won't win. He only got 3 points out of how many drives against a not so good giving up 41 points to syracuse defense. You got to be kidding me. But you never know what could happen even with shortell. Wiscy ain't like they've been in the last few years. We have done worst than this in last 5 years with our starting team.
