When in 1961 following a 3-6-1 season with only 2 conference wins, it was time for a change. The fortunes had been lost for over 20 years and a new directiion was needed. The man selected was not the first choice, not even the second. His longest head coaching stretch had been as a high school coach. He had served as a assistant to two legends in college football. He had taken his first college job 5 years before at a non BSC school. To be honest, there wasn't BCS back then, but he went 35-10. When he was hired he brought his entire staff with him. The rest is history. He caputured, alumni, fans, business, and players. He did inherited a QB recruited by the former Coach, he was a sophmore. The 1962 team went 9-2. Hmmmmm. Again, am I on to something or on something?

Yea Husker. A little less sauce would help *wink* but it is nice to dream.

I hope you're right. Bob Devaney would be a good path to follow.

I'd rather not talk about Nebraska and how Minnesota should aspire to their greatness. Thanks, though.
