I can't remember the last time they did, but I say they end the drought this year. :)

The last All-Big Ten 1st Team LB for us was Bruce Holmes in 1986. He was on the coaches' ballot. The last consensus All-Big Ten 1st Team LB was Jim Fahnhorst in 1981.

The most recent All-Big Ten LB was was Sean Hoffman in 2000. He was 2nd team.

They have to with the tackle totals as well as big plays from Campbell and Triplett. To date you cannot come up with 6 more deserving LBs than those two.

Absolutely not. We have two:D. And the third should be all academic big ten for using the word "penis" instead of an expletive, which would have been used by pretty much any other player:D. (Note: I realize that he said "m.f." as well, but the blatant judgment used to say "penis" instead of another word was sheer brilliance imo.)

No. Let me just name some of the top LB's in the conference:
Greg Jones (MSU)
Sean Lee (PSU)
Navarro Bowman (PSU)
Jerimha Hunter (Iowa)
A.J. Edds (Iowa)
Pat Angerer (Iowa)

These six represent the possible first and second teams. I don't foresee Triplett getting anything more than HM.

I will agree with you. Definitely the first four are studs, but I am not as knowledgeable about the last 2 Hawkeyes. Triplett is playing solid, no doubt, but he needs to step up against some of the big time programs and he might have a chance. Remember, a lot of his tackles came against the Air Force team that ran every single play.

I think Campbell has a legit shot at 2nd team; will depend on how he finishes and how the team finishes. At this point, Triplett is not in the mix (a defense can't give up as many yards as the Gophers have and expect many post-season accolades). They have to tighten up.

While all-conference accolades are nice, I'm pretty happy with how the LBs have played as a unit. Also thought Cooper did a decent job for filling in for Triplett in the Purdue game.

I bet Cooper will be an All conference LB that guy is amazing for only a freshmen!!!

Angerer is the best LB Iowa has. He was 2nd team all-Big Ten last year. He is a beast at MLB.

Lee Campbell is the 2nd leading tackler in the Big Ten. He has a shot at some accolades. He keeps doing what he did last week (11 tackles, INT, blocked FG) and he will get noticed.

If cambell or Triplett can replicate their first half in the second half they have a shot.

I like cooper alot as well, he reminds me of lawrence this time last year, except he's got three more years.

Besides Cooper what underclassmen have seen any time at LB this year?

Tinsley has seen some action he is only a freshmen also!!!

has reeves been playing at all???

No only on special teams. From what I have heard from players on the team he is going to be good but he is really far behind when it comes to reading what the offense is showing and other mental aspects of the game. Great athlete but would be too much of a liability on the field at this point.

I think that Campbell has the better shot of our two. But with that said, nothing against what Campbell & Triplett have done so far this year, but their chances of post season accolades will go way up if they can turn in eye-opening performances against Penn State and Ohio State the next two weeks. Doing it against Purdue or Syracuse is one thing, but doing it against the top teams in the conference is another.

As for the rest of the names thrown out there, both Bowman and Lee each have already missed about 3 games with injuries. Even though they are big-time names, they need to stay healthy for most of the rest of the year or they probably won't even be in the mix.

Coming in to last week Triplett was leading the country in solo tackles (not sure about the stats now). He definitely has a chance.

Campbell is the national leader in solo tackles and tied for 3rd in overall tackles. Jones from MSU is the only LB in the B10 ahead of him. So long as Cambell maintains his stats I don't think that the B10 can ignore him. Triplett would be in the same position but his recurring shoulder stinger will hurt his stats. That and his preseason off the radar status don't bode well for more than HM.

Bowman missed a few games but then the game he came back against Iowa he had at 9 tackles and I think three for a loss. He has proved he is a difference maker for that defense. He's the best defensive player in the conference when he's healthy.
