Attention, at least the kind of attention a kid want's to be noticed. At some point, Gray, Mcknight, Tinsley, Cooper, Rallis, Jacobs, Kirksey, Willihite, Royston, Bennett,
Orton, Bunders, Green, Lair all of these guy's thought of themselves as playing in the NFL some day. Time is running short if these guy's really want to make an impression on NFL scouts. Losing and losing by large margins on a team that is featured in bad highlight's is not the way to get noticed. Especially Gray, he doesn't have a lot of time left to show that he has a shot at the next level. At some point these guy's better decide that if they want a shot they better start making a few plays with a little more effort.

McKnight is going to have to show more effort to get drafted in the first 5 rounds at this point.

Any thread that starts by displaying that the OP does not know the difference between there and their loses all credibility with me, and hence I will not comment except for what I just said.

Excellent point: watching yesterday's games I was struck by the terrific effort most teams made, even in losing (Maryland, Arizona State, Northwestern) compared to the zombie performance of many of our upperclassmen against New Mexico State, Michigan, Purdue, etc. The talent gap was evident, too - Oregon would kill us with their speed - and they are so deep they can replace starters at RB and QB without missing a beat.

Hopefully, common sense (NFL prospects) and pride will kick in one Saturday, maybe against Nebraska.

They should be worrying about Nebraska....the rest will take care of itself.

It is going to be hard for a new coach to break the spell of a previous coach that told them probably during recruiting and for three years that teams from Vermillion, Brookings, Fargo, etc are not worth playing and yield nothing.

Since the preps for those teams in the past are now wasted time - there just is not much to build on this season. Because he has had to follow Brewster - he may need a full measure of five seasons before the clock even starts. That is unless the UNIVERSITY decides to turn up the gas for the athletic department.

I hope that happens soon.

I don't really like seeing Tinsley lumped in with some of the other upperclassmen zombie performance. Tinsley is playing hard and is often the only player on our defense giving an effort and playing well.

Unfortunately, I don't think there is a whole lot most of our players can do about their performance so far. What I am saying is that even if some of the players you mentioned played with their hair on fire, they wouldn't be NFL caliber football players.

I don't agree with including Royston, Tinsely, Cooper, Gray, Rallis, Bennet, or Willihite in this group. From what I've seen the LBs and Royston are playing very hard on defense. Willihite has already said he doesn't expect to play in the NFL. Gray is essentially a first year QB, who has said if the coaches ask will move to WR. Bennet is always playing hard, what more do you want from him?

nfl scouts and gopher football
that got a little of my SoBe to come out my nose

McKnight is going to have to show more effort, show better catching ability, show ability to separate.........in order to have a chance at being signed as an undrafted free agent. He has been a total bust as a WR this year.

And remember how stupid some of us were for believing that Adam Weber was at least going to get a good look at the inside of an NFL team?

Practice team for a team that is very unstable at QB could prove to be very good for him.

????

I guess you are taking a shot at Brewster's attitude towards playing the local FCS teams? For what its worth Kill stated plenty of times before the NDSU game he'd rather not play the game.

I wanted to discuss your point but I'm a little unsure of what you are saying.

If the talent is as bad as kill claims there shouldn't be any NFL talent on this roster.

Gray doesn't have a chance to play at the next level. He has the size and speed to be a good TE, maybe but not QB or receiver.

He definitely has the size and speed to play WR. Remember, he bulked up to his current weight over the summer.

Gray definitely has the size and speed to play in the NFL at WR. If he doesn't play in the NFL, it will be because of his route running or something like that, he absolutely has the athletic profile.

As a group, no one appears to have NFL talent. Put Tinsley at LB surrounded with good players or McKnight with a very good QB/OL and that could change.

A. If you are a good enough football player it doesn't matter where you go to school the scouts will find you. For example, Demarcus Ware (Troy), Jared Allen (Idaho State), Tony Romo (Eastern Illinois)..... You get the point.

B. It doesn't matter if your team sucks, if you show NFL talent you will make a team or get drafted.

C. There are literally two uperclassmen on the Gophs that have NFL talent, Mcknight and Gray. That's it!!
