I really hope kill adds a couple dlineman in this class as we have none now. That estime kid looks raw but amazibgly gifted athletically and he goes to the same school as matilus I think. He'd be a good addition. Then there is the kid from badger land verballed to kill ay niu, any other options?

Kill will add as many D-linemen as he can. At NIU, he liked to rotate in several guys on the D-line, thereby building depth and also helping to ensure that the linemen were fresh and not dragging by the end of the games.

Mason Fuller from the Chicago area has been hearing from the Gophers, he may take an official visit here. Not sure how much of a shot we have at him though.

We have offered:

Elkino Watson: NT from Miami, offered by Florida, he would be a really good get for the U, pretty unlikely though.

Terry Bell: DT from Florida with a slew of offers, also unlikely

Isiah Norton: DT from Texas, a ton of offers, also very unlikely

The good news is that we went a bit heavy on the DT prospects in last years class, so even if we don't get a kid we want it won't/shouldn't leave a huge whole in our depth chart. It's be nice to add at least one DT prospect, but it is also a possibility that the smaller McAvoy moves to DT.

Remember last year we signed Tauaefa, Ferguson and Legania, and Botticelli will probably end up putting on another 25 lbs and be a DT as well. I wouldn't even be shocked to see Ben Perry end up at DT being that he is a 250 lbs FR DE (but he could project more of like a Jacobs type of DE). But yeah, I agree with you, it'd still be nice to add at least 1 DT.

I must have missed something - we have no d-line? Who did we lose?

I agree with the post, I don't like to have complete position gaps in year classes, especially in the o&d lines where growth and strength just take time to develop. Does anyone know how the past regime felt about the talent in the d-tackle pipeline? I heard Coach Horton say he thought Tauefa would be a good player, but I have not heard much about Botticelli, and Legania who also were supposed to have some talent, infact Lagania had the best list of offers in that class. Same with Hahn or any other underclassman at DT?

I haven't heard anything about Legania since he has arrived on campus.

Botticelli was the scout player of the year (along with Ben Perry) and I remember early last year there was some talk that Ferguson would get PT during the year. He didn't, he was RS.

Hahn is ok, he actually got a decent amount of PT last year and he held his own.

The underclassmen with the most upside is Hageman. I know there seems to be some questions about where he plays and if he plays at the U, but he has all the tools to be a very good DT.

thanks, I would guess the expectations and talent evaluations will look at least a little different with this staff anyway, so we'll see how we do.
I also felt the last staff really screwed up moving Hageman around to a bunch of different positions. I am not an expert on d-lines play at all, but I thought he was playing too high at DE, and the next thing he is playing just as high at DT. That is a kid that needs to go to a position and master it. Just hoping he clicks somewher is not coaching. I actually hope Phelps is as good a coach as he is reported to be, that could make a big difference next year.

Yeah, I am not sure why they ever were so sold on Hageman being a DE. My thought was that they liked him at DE simply because they wanted to motivate him and let him fight for a starting job (it'd been easier at DE than DT). That didn't pan out, he should have been moved to DT and left there. The good news is that he is only a Sophomore. It sounds like he would prefer to play offense, but I really think the best situation for Hageman would be DT.

But you are right, he doesn't look natural coming off the ball on the defensive side. I think he will have to learn though, he's got an ideal frame for an NFL DT, and if he wants to play at the next level, he will need become more comfortable firing off the ball.

I found this kid as a potential good find. Might fit Kill's mold.

Good find. I didn't watch any video, but his build, listed size and speed say more LB then DE.
His academics are very good.
