When are they going to announce the division names? I thought it was supposed to happen already.

Thought they officially went with divison X and divison O?
Divison X- wisc, tOSU, PSU, Ind, Ill and Pur.
Division O- Minny, Iowa, Msu, Mich, Neb and Nw

Anything but Woody and Bo. If you were going to name them that you might as well call them Ohio State(and some other $h!tty schools) and Michigan(and some other $hi!tty schools).

Pretty much.

my thoughts exactly.

I think the Big Ten was pretty clear in saying they were staying away from school specific division names. So I wouldn't worry too much. (Watch it be W&B now)

Had to finally join the hole so I could comment on this subject (that and the recent push for lurkers to join was persuasive).
I'm mortally afraid that we're going to screw this up. When I heard Delaney said he was thinking about making them historically based I immediately thought the same thing- Hayes and Schembechler divisions. I actually sent him an email (I think, or some other poor sap named Jim Delaney) telling him the divisions should be named simply, North and South. I know it doesn't work perfectly with Wisconsin but check out a map, everybody in the Bo division is north of the Woody teams. I told him this was not the ACC and we don't need to get cute with our names. I'm afraid we're going to have some vague, arbitrary names that no one will be able to keep track of (Heartland and Mid West?).

North and South

KISS

Division Bronko and Division Nagurski

East and West regardless of what the Big Ten decides to call it. There was talk of the Woody and Bo divisions, that would be too much to swallow. It might seem obvious to Michigan and Ohio State fans that the divisions ought to be named after their schools, but that's just too much. Great Lakes and Great Plains divisions doesn't work. Only one Big Ten team (Nebraska) is considered to be a great plains state. All but two states (Iowa and Nebraska) border a Great Lake. Just name it East and West. But I think that, having taken all this time to reach a decision, the Big Ten will feel that they need to have a snappier name.

I could get behind East and West as well. Maybe they're going to sell the naming rights and we're going to get the Barbasol and Rotel divisions?

Someone had earlier suggested the Rotel and Velveeta divisions. Rotel makes good stuff, but I hate Velveeta.

This is only partly related, but will there be all-division teams, or just all-conference as usual?

Some other suggestions for division names:

Sturm and Drang
Oscar and Felix
Stan and Ollie
Tony Orlando and Dawn
Jason and the Argonauts
Josie and the Pussycats
Quantum Mechanics and Relativity
Boxers and Briefs
Dopple and Ganger
Happy Happy and Joy Joy
Ozzie and Harriet
Minneapolis and Saint Paul
Standard and Poors
Coyote and Road Runner
Star Trek and Star Wars
Mary Ann and Ginger

Damn. 2 posts and I'm already unoriginal.

Maybe the White Stripes (Michigan) and the Black Keys (Ohio)?

Lakes
Plains

End of discussion.

Woody and Bo were NEVER considered. A requirement is no references to any specific teams.

The State of Minnesota would certainly object to being in the Plains division, it would go against the way the state markets itself, which focuses on the lakes, forests and Lake Superior.

The best suggestion I've seen is the "Where's Wisconsin" and "What the hell is Wisconsin doing here?" divisions.

The division we are in........Division 1
The division Wisconsin is in ...........Division 2

I think some suggestions earlier were better...

This is by far the best choice. Honestly I think these divisions will be here for a few years, I think at some point they will be changed to more geographic divisions.

The more Wisconsin is a leader
and the more someone other than Michigan and Nebraska is a legend, the faster change to geography will come.

Eastern Time Zone Division
Central Time Zone Division

Wisconsin is usually an hour or so behind anyway.
