Did the Gophers offer Tyus Jones when he was 13?

With all the Tyus Jones news lately I saw this little blurb from Shooter in Sunday's paper:

Apple Valley's Tyus Jones, the point guard to whom the Gophers offered a tender two years ago, is the second-youngest (15) player on the USA Under-16 team that will compete in Cancun, Mexico, this week.

Maybe it was when he was 14 or maybe Charley Walters is thinking of Iowa's offer to Jones as that's the only one listed as having offered so far?

Does anyone know if it was * announced * that we've offered him? I'm assuming we have at some point but it was probably kept quiet.
