This was the type of game it would really have helped to have Devoe to create his own shot.

The fact that we're doing this well already makes the thought of him coming back even more exciting. Some added depth at the guard position and a go-to scorer when we need a bucket is going to make us a lot more difficult to beat.

Red shirt?

I sure hope not. This team has a chance to make some real noise, and we'll need Devoe. He screwed up--he's not the first college guy to do that. If he gets his act together he'll be a major part of a very successful team, and I hope that's incentive enough for him.

Actually, at least in the first half, this is the type of game where Devoe would have gained playing time and Hoff sitting time.

In the end, for now I'm glad it didn't happen, as Hoff had a much, much stronger second half. And Al simply should not have sat one minute of that game, as well as he played.

Devoe's return will likely have the greatest effect on some of the freshmen who played tonight, who may not see many minutes come Big Ten season.

That would have been an ideal game to play 3 guards and 2 big men.

With Nolen at the PG, and Joseph and Devoe as shooters on the Wings, whichever 2 big men were chosen would have dominated in the paint or kicked to one of multiple shooters (instead of 1).
Devoe would have helped a ton against WVU.

+1

I was thinking the same thing. But it was also good to see this team win big without Joseph. Good reminder that the Gophers are a TEAM, not the "Devoe Show." Hope he's doing/done what he needs to do to get back in the mix. This should be an exciting season for Gopher Men's basketball.

I am not worried about Devoe at this point, he will get back into the mix. And the gophers will be better for it.

The Goph's seem to be clicking real well early this year as a team. I hope that whenever Devoe makes it back the team can make a smooth transition to include his play.

I'm more worried about Devoe making a smooth transition to include others in his play. We have great team chemistry right now and Devoe isn't exactly the greatest team player. He will be valuable though because of his 1 v 1 ability to score and also spread the floor. We also can't force Nolen to play such heavy minutes and it's not like Maverick is ready. I'm looking forward to Devoe's return, but like some others have mentioned, I hope we don't become the Devoe show unless he's shooting like he did in the BTT.
