Know the foe
Surprise, surprise: Not many expected the Gophers to compete for the Legends Division title, but until last week’s loss, they still had a shot. Still, the Gophers have a chance to win more than eight games for the first time since 2003 (10-3). They also have won four of the last five with their coach, Jerry Kill, watching from the coaches’ box.
Ground game: The Gophers are 27th in the nation in rushing offense (2,287 yards). It’s the most yards they have rushed for since gaining 2,007 in 2006. Minnesota also has 23 rushing TDs, the most since scoring 25 in 2006. David Cobb leads the way with 192 carries for 1,010 yards and seven TDs.
Home away from home: Minnesota has been good on the road, winning three of four (lost at Michigan). The last time Minnesota had a winning record on the road was 2005, when it went 3-2.
