per the Free Press:
For Minnesota’s Jerry Kill, each stop climbing the coaching ladder has featured a signature moment.
He’s still waiting for that in his third season with the Gophers but pinpoints the trophy games — last week against Iowa, this weekend against Michigan and the Nov. 23 game against Wisconsin — as potential statements.
So far, they’re 0-for-1 after getting handled by the Hawkeyes, 23-7.
“This particular year, you’ve got to have one of those significant wins, one of those that maybe you’re not supposed to be able to win and pull off an upset,” Kill said during today’s Big Ten coaches teleconference. “Everywhere I’ve been when we turned programs around, there’s been a defining moment and usually that defining moment is winning a game you’re not supposed to or maybe you upset somebody. I would tell you any of those situations would be significant for our program.”
