for advice on how to how to fix his troubled sqaud'

It certainly seems as if this is the headline many here expect to read in the paper in the coming days...

Get rid of Westbrook

It's too late for this year, but that's the start, he seems to be a cancer-type.
Then, next year swap out D. Johnson for Royce White. Somehow sign Cory Joseph, and move Hoffarber and Nolen to the bench.

Nolen is a great defender, but is an absolute liability on offense. And the fact that he can't stay eligible might say something about his ability to run an offense effectively. Hoffarber only does one thing well, those types of players should come off the bench the Big Ten.

Couple years ago may have been true...not true anymore.

If all he could do it is shoot, he wouldn't be leading the team in minutes this year.

What Tubby said.

"We need to recruit better players."

:)

Can you explain that connection in your first sentence? I don't think that Hoffarber should be getting THAT many more minutes than PC and RW, but that comment about Hoffarber is ridiculous.

Please post the things Hoffarber does well

I'm open to chaning my opinion, though doubtfull.

shoot 3's - yes.
smart - yes.
defend - no, unless the player is as slow as him.
run the floor - no.
dribble - no.
pass - look at his assist numbers, no.
rebound - no.
create his own shot - NO.

Tubby:
I hope you know which players are causing the "cancer." Next year you must not play them. Use the players with the good attitudes.
Part of that good attitude has to be tenacity. The current starting five lack it. They play to soft particularly on defense. Colton is one of your few aggressive players. If Ralph goes soft, use Colton. Hopefully, TM will be aggressive next year at the four. Nolan can give you more aggression and Hoffarber will be there as well every night. The big question for next year are who are you going to play at 2 and 3. Carter has shown some aggressiveness on the boards but he doesn't play great defense. Can Devoe get better defensively and drive more to the basket offensively? Is Hollins tough enogh? Can Rodney understand that dunks are a small part of the game. He should watch all the things Hoffarber does and model them.

dribble - no.

rebound - no.

He dribbles as well as anyone else we have out there. Passing-wise, he makes the right, smart pass and on time, something no one else on our team can do. So yes, look at his assist numbers, he has one of the best, if not the best assist/turnover ratio of anyone on the team. Rebounding wise, he's tied w/Johnson as our 3rd best rebounder behind the 2 posts, and thus the best rebounder out of any of the guards.

Thus, based on his numbers, he probably does more things right than any of the other guards on the team. Hence the reason Tubby has played him the most minutes on the team this year.

If you've watched them play you would hopefully know that he's a good passer. Being the only player who can feed the ball into the post doesn't always show up as an assist, neither does a good pass that results in a missed shot because of our poor shooting. He also rarely turns the ball over and he's not that bad of a rebounder. He's our second leading scorer, our most unselfish player, and he spaces the floor. I don't think he should get quite as many minutes as he does, but I don't think he's worthless out there when he isn't scoring. You can't judge everything by stats.

I was wondering when Tubby would finally come to his senses!

Hoffarber is second on the team in assist to turnover ratio behind Nolen. His is at 2.3/1 compared to Joseph 1.6/1 and Westbrook 1/1. He's 4th on the team in rebounds. And even when he's not scoring, he is drawing a lot of attention from the defense which opens things up for other players.

The passer!

GREAT PASSER!!! What else is he going to do with the ball? Is he going to take someone off the dribble? Is he going to finish in the lane or at the rim? He can not drive, he can not bring the ball up the court, he's not a good ball handler, he's not a guard.

Tubby starts him because he has no other options.

False; He has played point for them, brought the ball up plenty, is a very solid ball handler and guard.

Right. Thanks coach.

If so he would threaten to quit and never return after every loss.
