per Dodd on our season opening opponent:

“A year ago, you had to prove people wrong,” Patterson said. “This year, you have to prove people right.”

The reset button was hit this week. That's what media days are about: celebrating the hype, spreading the rose petals on the red carpet.

“I had people waiting on me [at the media days] before I even got there,” Boykin said.

Nelson definitely showed promise, he threw a tight spiral with good accuracy and was quite mobile.

Great? Possibly close to it by Senior year if he'd stayed.

Maybe Ohio State can loan us their 3rd stringer-- whoever that turns out to be. How did they end up with 3 great ones?

No offense to Leidner, if he can limit the bouncers and overthrows to wide open receivers he'll be Good if not great

Forget Nelson. He was average and with the event that happened in Mankato he would be gone any way.

2 years and 100 threads later people still can't get over it...sigh.

Uh, we did have an extremely skilled QB in Phillip Nelsen but the Gopher staff abandoned him.

Not sure it even warrants a response but here are Nelson's and Leidner's sophomore year stats:

Nelson:
94-186 (50.5%) 1306 yds
364 rushing yards and 6 tds

Leidner:
122-237 (51.5%) 1798 yds
452 rushing yards and 10 tds

Seriously ManKuato, give it up. Leidner is not elite, but I would definitely take him over Nelson.

Why can't the Gophers recruit a great QB?

Boykin was not heavily recruited and wasn't rated extremely high out of high school. Demry Croft is actually pretty similar as far as recruiting rankings and interest goes.

Why can't the Gophers recruit a great QB?

Gray and Alipate were pretty "great" in HS. Demry is a pretty high 3 star on Scout and 247, lit it up in the OD bowl and could have gone to Penn State if he wanted to.

I wasn't up to date on Kuato - I apologize for not recognizing the sarcasm. It's too bad, though - I really liked my ManKuato invention.
