Dennis Anderson: Former U standout Randy Breuer is tall on the trigger

Randy Breuer made a figurative mark on the Minnesota landscape as a basketball player. These days he strides the landscape as a hunter, standing out at ''5 feet and 27 inches.''

Go Gophers!!

That Ohio State game, in which Breuer scored 32, and Gophers won it at The Barn for the Big Ten Title, I was fortunate enough to attend with my then 14 year old son. The second highlight of my son's day was meeting Tony Oliva, and getting his autograph. Man, was The Barn electric.

I might add, that was back in the days before the fire marshall made the U reduce attendance from 18 thousand plus. And people could smoke in the hallways, and did, to the extent that the entire barn had a smoke filled atmosphere to it.

Those were the days, my friends.

I was at that game too (it was my senior year at the U). Those were the good old days when the hottest ticket in town was to a Big 10 game in the barn!

Man, you clowns are old.

I was there. I was 12.

And the fact that his picture isn't hanging up in the rafters is a frickin' embarrassment.

Dennis Anderson brought back fond memories of my family's days in Lake City during Randy's high school years. During his three high school years the District 1 Championship Game between Lake City and Winona Cotter was essentially the State Championship game. Both teams were that good. Winona won the first game and Lake City the last two. Also bowled with Randy's dad, Ralph, in a Thursday night league. His dad had huge hands (much like Bronko Nagurski). It seemed like his 16 lb bowling ball was down to 12 lbs once they drilled the holes in it.

Glad to see Randy doing well in his life after basketball. He's always been a class act.

Correct. There must be a back story of some kind. No one at the U could be that oblivious. Does it have something to do with getting a degree? Randy needs to be up there.

Retired Numbers...

Randy definitely deserves and should be on the Barn wall. Hopefully he makes it at some point. Maybe it does have to do with his credits/degree?

Randy yes, but Willie Burton for sure.
