it really feels like 1983 all over again. The previous year, '82, looked promising. We were 3-0 going into the Illinois game. That game was tight until late in the game, Illinois returned a punt for a TD, and MN was never the same...for a very long time. Didn't win again that season...

in '83, when the first game of the year was labeled the "toilet bowl":

Minnesota beat Rice 21-17
lost to Nebraska 84-13 at home
lost to Purdue 32-20
lost to Ohio State 69-18
lost to Indiana 38-31
lost to Wisconsin 56-17
Lost to Northwestern 19-8
Lost to Michigan State 34-10
Lost to Illinois 50-23
Lost to Michigan 58-10
Lost to Iowa 61-10

I'm numb and all that comes to mind is Emerson's "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds"

Yep, this year has the potential to be epic. Hopefully this will be what addiction recovery folks classify as rock bottom.
