Go Gophers!!

Deadspin Tweet: Connor Cook has no time for pleasantries with two-time Heisma...

There's no way in hell he should of been the MVP for that game. For what, showing up? 50% passing, no TD's, and a pick? Their RB was far and away the MVP. He should be embarrassed to receive that.

I would add that Cook has Ryan Leaf written all over him. Just a sense I get based on how he carries himself.

You might have very good people reading skills:

Cook has nowhere near the physical tools that Ryan Leaf had. I didn't realize Cook was such a pr*ck. He'll probably hold a clipboard in the NFL for a couple of seasons, but I don't see him as an NFL starting QB.

Yeah, that just looked horrible on TV. It was really, really off-putting.

In Cook's defense though, he admitted as much after the game, once he'd seen the video of how that whole thing went down. Basically he was like "Wow, did I really do that?". According to him, he was just totally caught up in the heat of the moment and his brush-off of Archie Griffin was completely unintentional, as everything was just kind of in a blur at that point for him. I can see it, but damn, you have to be a whole lot more aware of your surroundings than that, otherwise you leave yourself wide open to charges of being just a disrespectful punk. That's exactly what he looked like there, but to his credit he did apologize to Griffin multiple times after the fact, and he did seem quite sincere in those apologies.

RE: his NFL prospects, Cook still carries a 1st round grade, and I don't know that he'd lose that absent just a completely terrible combine or something crazy unexpected occurring prior to the draft, but he's now graded below both Lynch and Goff, and man, there are legitimate concerns about his consistency and accuracy. By way of comparison, Kirk Cousins completed 64% of his passes in his three years as a starter at Michigan State and never had a single season completion % below 60%, while Cook's never completed more than 58% in a season, in fact his three year percentages are 58.7, 58.4, 57.4. That's a little concerning to see a subtle yet steady downward progression like that, but one of his saving graces is that he's been really, really good about not turning the ball over.

I don't know. He is highly talented despite his accuracy concerns and he pretty much does nothing but win. He's an interesting player to me, and I'll be curious to see how he does in the NFL, because I really have absolutely no idea at all. Could blow up like a skyrocket or fizzle like a wet fart, who the heck knows?

The way he initially acted is what's most natural to him. He embarrassed his school when he behaved that way. You'd never have seen someone like Cousins act in that manner.

Brush him off? LOL, it looked like he treated him like a towel boy. Screams of a "Blazing Saddles" skit in reverse. :drink:

Wow, that was pretty bad...

I heard no one showed up to his birthday.

I was just thinking that...

Agree ... He never even looked at him or acknowledged him ... not even a glance.

Connor Cook just apologized profusely to Archie Griffin on our BTN set - should air soon on BTN. He felt terrible - meant no disrespect

As Jerry Kill would say, "I hear what you say, but I trust what you do."

I heard no one showed up to his birthday.
I heard his parents made him give presents to others on his birthday and returned any that he got... for cash. [emoji12]

I heard he once got caught up in the moment of being at a birthday party and pushed the birthday boy aside and blew out the candles himself.

LJ Scott or Calhoun should have got it, but Cook pretty much said the offensive line deserved the trophy. Wouldn't have argued with that either.

He wins! I seriously doubt he's hated by his teammates with his record of 34-3 as a starter. When the Gophers get a QB with that type of record we can complain about Connor Cook.

Justifiably complain? Because the Intarwebz iz all about complaining with no basis in fact or reality.
