As per MV: Cockran becomes the 21st member of the 2011 class, picking the Gophers over offers from Purdue, Pitt, Marshall, Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. His signing gives Minnesota two defensive ends for the 2011 class, a huge position of need. Cockran is a tall, big framed prospect that had very good combine numbers but still appears a bit raw in his fundamentals.

Lanky kid with some real potential. I'm not going to compare kids because high school is on another planet from college, but I like Cockran's height and if he can boogie at 4.5 forty speed, it's hard to argue with the physical talent. The raw material is there. The right coaching and this kid easily contributes.
