Go Gophers!!

I agree, he should be. But, I think our loss to the Illini and his lack of rush TD's is a factor. We often take away some of his TD opportunities with QB sneaks on the goal line. IMO, that is probably a partial reason.

There are 20 semi finalists, I wouldn't argue he's one of the top 20 offensive players. He's 93rd in yards per carry, 55th in rushing touchdowns. He's not really at an elite level for anything other than how many times he carries the ball each game.

He deserves to be there in my opinion. He has carried this team.

I think the lack of TD's hurts him far more then the loss to Illinois. Plus he is not flashy and I would bet that if you polled most fans around the country most would have a really hard time telling you who David Cobb plays for. That is not to take anything away from what he has done on the field and he has absolutely carried our offense but when it comes to national awards there is a style and popularity component involved as well and for as great as he has played this year he isn't flashy.

Huh?! He's at an elite level in rushing yards, 8th in the nation.

Good points MNVCGUY.

Probably number of TD's, but he blocks and can catch the ball. Coleman and Gordon do neither.
Gordon has hands of stone and Coleman was pulled earlier this year when Wilson said he was missing blocking assignments. Cobb is the " Rodney Daingerfield " of college football. He gets no respect.

There is also something to be said for a guy being able to be productive after that many carries.

I agree, he's a good work horse back who can be relied upon for a lot of touches each week. I don't think that says he's one of the top 20 offensive players in the country though.
