Not a ton new in the interview, but here are a few questions that may be of interest:

http://scouthoops.scout.com/2/945357.html

What are the keys you look for when you watch games on TV?

“I look at the general style of play of course. I look for how the players are coming together and how the coaches respond to the players. It’s basically the style of play and the system they run. I don’t go off whether they win a game or lose, I don’t look at the wins and losses, even though that does come into play. I keep an even mind about it. I don’t say well, “these guys beat a top program, these guys lost.”

Have you thought about how diverse your list is?

“Yeah, conference comes into play but I don’t worry about being away from home. Everywhere is away from home. I’ll go where what’s best for me.”

How much does the program’s success with pros factor into the decision?

“It factors in but every situation is different. It does factor in but not completely. One spot might be good for me and another for them. But, if they made the pros then it had to be good for them.”

What’s the craziest thing Tristan Thompson has done to try and convince you to go to Texas?

“He doesn’t do anything crazy. Sometimes if we’re playing and do something good, he’ll give me a look like “come on man we need you there.” He’s been my friend for a long time but he tries to let me have my time but he does give me eye signals when we play but he doesn’t try to pressure me into anything.”

You ever read the message boards of the fan bases?

“I have sometimes when people say “hey look at this or look at that.” Sometimes I say “whoa” and sometimes people say stuff I and I wonder where they get this from.”

Go Gophers!!

sounds good

His answers to the questions fit the profile of someone seriously considering a school like Minnesota. I think our shot is legit...this is not the Harrison Barnes recruitment, despite what others may say. Now, if he goes elsewhere, folks with say... "he was never thinking seriously of coming here" I don't think thats the case here.

Jay Wright, rising program plus 3- and 4-guard sets will be a tough combo to beat.

Sure would be a huge boost to get him here, though. That would be a real coup for Tubby.

I would really love to see Cory Joseph in maroon and gold next year with his brother Devoe!

I am not interested in being brides maid....I expect Tubby to be able to get players like Cory Joseph...CoryJ may or may not be a Gopher, but given the right Athletic environment, Tubby should be able to consistently attract players of his caliber to play for the University.

I will say it again. He is not coming here. Would have made the decision if that was the case. He knows the coach, the program, his brother plays here. No reason to wait if he was coming to the "U". My guess is he is waiting for UCONN and Texas to find out which one he has the best chance to play at immediately based on who they land. Doesn't want to insult the Gophers by pulling there name out before he makes his final decision. I hope I'm wrong...

You can say it as many times as you want, but you'd be speculating just like everyone else. Why would Villanova be out of the mix? What lip service does he owe them?

excellent point. Last checked Scottie Reynolds is a senior. If it's playing time he wants Villanova would at least seem to be more in the mix of things then other posters are saying.

Yes, I am truly speculating. My thoughts are that people are putting to much emphasis on the fact that Devoe plays here. This kid gives me the impression he would love to play with his brother BUT, he want whats best for him. Just seems odd that he wouldn't have committed if he intended to come here. He knows he will play significant minutes, knows the system, first hand knowledge of the coach, etc. Why wait, unless he wants to see if one of the other programs can offer the same amount of PT. We also have a lot of questions marks regarding the talent for next year. Maybe I'm professing reverse psychology, here. I hope he comes to the "U". My gut tells me he's not.

I'm so sick of hearing that reasoning, it's just stupid. Just because he hasn't committed here yet doesn't mean he's automatically going somewhere else. He's not going to rush to a decision either way because he wants to make sure he chooses the right school, whoever it may be. What happens if UConn gets Knight and Bradley stays at Texas? His best opportunity for immediate playing time would be here. He's going to do what is best for him, which he has said countless times. If he can get the most playing time at Minnesota and have a bigger role in the offense here than anywhere else all while playing with his brother, don't you think he might consider that the best choice for him?

This is the typical sourpuss MN attitude where you whine and complain with the "we always take the backseat" mentality. Your rationale makes no sense, it's been repeated several times, and is becoming extremely annoying.

CJ will be a gopher. He has the chance to step in and have an immediate impact on a program on the rise in a major conference with a major coach.

Nice attitude! Wish there were more people around here with your positivity!:D

I'm not arguing with the playing time here. Where would you go if you had an opportunity at UCONN or Texas, assuming you were getting similar minutes. With our returning talent next year a bit in question and the problems we have had this year. Take the rose colored glasses off for a moment. We are in a backseat at this point and time. In my opinion the only way he comes here are if his minutes will be reduced due to an abundance of talent at the other schools at PG. In the future, I hope we are a #1 choice for some of these guys. Like I said, I hope I'm wrong. Just offering my "speculation" on the situation.

That logic still doesn't make sense, no matter how many times you say it. What if he finds out he wouldn't get much playing time at either of them?

In my estimation, if Corey has ruled out coming to MN it would be more of an insult to 'string along' Tubby than to let him know. Kind of like SH in football.
