You may have noticed with college basketball practice on the horizon, I’m finding more stories on college basketball, which is a great sign. Today we’re looking throughout the nation while on Friday we’ll focus on the Big Ten.

I’ll start things off with this Gary Parrish interview, who is moving towards the mantle of “top national college basketball writer” in my opinion:

Transfers promise to have quite an impact on the upcoming season, as the National Hoops Report reaffirms:

It’ll be interesting to see how Oregon State progresses this season after a surprise first season under Craig Robinson:

Hmm, not much interest in digging into Arkansas’ tumultuous off-season in this coverage of John Pelphrey:

Tennessee’s trying to get its mojo back, it seems that a lot is being placed upon the shoulders of a juco defensive specialist:

Following the story of Turkey’s Enes Kanter is pretty interesting; will this guy ever matriculate to a college campus?:

And the final note of the day has to do with the transfer of Rob Jones from San Diego to St. Mary’s; although Jeff Goodman doesn’t mention it, Jones is the grandson of Jim Jones (yes, that Jim Jones) and the national coverage was pretty extensive his freshman year:

How did I miss this?

I was just watching my Tivo'd U of San Diego games from the Alaska tourney, and was wondering where Rob Jones was, as he is one of my favorites. Just did some googling now, and low & behold, find it on the message board of my hometown Gophers. I'm bummed though. I'm a West Coast Conference fan, but I like San Diego more than St. Mary's, in terms of who I'd cheer for in a match-up. Oh well, St. Mary's has some fantastic young talent, so by the time Rob is eligible, they could make some noise again.
