per CSNChicago:
Everywhere Jerry Kill goes, all he does is win.
The man currently entering his fourth season as the Gophers' head coach is turning around Minnesota exactly like he did Southern Illinois and Northern Illinois before he arrived in the Twin Cities. Last season was one of the best in Minnesota history. Seriously. Eight-win campaigns don't come around too often for the Gophers, with 2013 marking just the 18th time it's ever happened and the first time it'd happened in 10 years. Had the Gophers beat Syracuse in the Texas Bowl, it would've been just the eighth nine-win season in program history. That didn't happen, but eight wins is a pretty big deal for the Gophers, with Kill being the man to deliver.
On top of a tough schedule, Minnesota loses its starting quarterback from a season ago, as well as its two top defensive playmakers. The Gophers' passing game was not effective last season, either. But, the run game figures again to be solid — after finishing as one of the league's top five rushing teams (195.2 rush yards per game) — and the defense could rebound easier than some might think.
The bottom line is that it'll be real tough to repeat last year's success, let alone to improve upon it. But there's plenty of reason for Gophers fans to be real pleased with Kill and what he's done in the Twin Cities.
