My challenge to the conservatives here:

How should the history of race relations in the USA be taught?

How and when do we teach slavery, Jim Crow, redlining, GI Bill discrimination, etc.?

How and when do we teach about various race massacres and lynchings.

How and when do we teach about violent takeovers of elected bodies (Wilmington NC for one)

No one here will give you a real answer. Most are completely incapable of answering or having a dialog.

In history class. Not teaching that math is racist. I’ve never heard of a more preposterous way of thinking.

They don't teach that math is racist in school.

This whole story is about classes and ideas for teachers to help make math more equitable. Yes some of the ideas are stupid, some are ok. Like most things.

Here is a story from Spooftopia...

The idea of a “western math” is dumb and counterproductive. Math is math. It’s also universal and slips the surly bonds of this silly little planet.

History is taught in history class.

I doubt highly that that is the issue.

Yes that is stupid, it's what happens when you have to many committees of worthless people. I doubt any teachers actually do any of it.

Amazing then that certain races in this country are consistently less proficient at it.

Must be because those races are genetically dumber than whites!

Your confusing traditional economy with a market economy.
As has been objective fact throughout history: there is no such thing as a market with no rules/regulation.

If there were, someone would just come in and steal everything.

We already figured this out a thousand years ago. No need to relive those lessons over.

You were never taught those things when you went to school?

How about they be taught like they've always been?

Or do kids need to feel guilty and reject themselves because of their color?

Why don't you tell me how they should be taught Ski U Math

Asians are the most proficient at it in this country.

Of course, two parent families and expectations play a role.

It's weird how it all works.

We were taught the basics of slavery & Jim Crow, but not much more.

In middle & high school, kids should be ready to go deeper into the sociological and economic ramifications of the those policies.

Plus we never learned about the massacres & other political shenanigans of the Southern white population. Those should be taught in high school.

Are you for real? For probably over a century or more, elementary, middle, and even High School have been where our young people are taught the broad basics of a wide variety of topics from social studies, US History, chemistry, math, woodworking, accounting, etc.

After that point, typically in college or even in junior college or trade schools, students have the opportunity to pursue certain topics in much greater detail, more thoroughly.

If students want to learn more about what you are talking about, or virtually any other topic across the spectrum, they are more than willing and able to pursue that in secondary education sources.

Our students have a finite amount of time for learning. It's impossible to get it all in, and it always will be. Everyone has the chance to pursue a greater understanding of every topic under the sun, including this topic, through a variety of avenues.

Were you taught about various Indian groups slaughtering each other?

Were you taught about how the southern whites obtained slaves?

How far do you want to go?

Correct analogy: when can we give a person of the same athletic ability, height, and body type (per genetics), but simply different skin color, the same even playing field opportunity to work hard and get the same development?

That's not the situation for math proficiency, clearly.

Wouldn’t “Spooftopia” imply that I think Portland is the tops? You aren’t very good at this Wally.

Our resident blind progs laugh when we point out how pervasive Marxism is on the left, in academia, etc.
haven’t seen anyone comment on Bidens nominee for comptroller of the currency, who is an actual communist, and wants to nationalize all banking and consumer deposits. Just another nothingburger I guess.

How about you post a story that doesn't require you to sign up to read.

A story that states her positions on things, preferably in her own words. Then I will comment.

Things like the Tulsa massacre were absolutely not taught in high school and certainly should be.

Wow you are a moron.
That clip means nothing, no context, no nothing.

It appears to be a thought experiment on managing the economy but there are exactly zero conclusions you can make from it.
