Crime "soars".... The same people whining that the "mainstream media" focuses too much on police-on-black crime (because it does) are praising the focusing on crime in urban areas. Both exist, but are exaggerated perceptions.

The thread title came from a headline over 6-months ago. Besides being accurate, do you have any input on the thread posts in the past 7-months? Like, on the data that shows crime is soaring increasing in MPLS?

"Defunding" the police was and is a stupid and a bad idea. But this is an intentionally misleading tweet. Defund suggests that they are no longer receiving funds. Couldn't be further from the truth. Baltimore reduced the police budget by $22 million this last year. A budget of over half a billion dollars.

Clay Travis is just jumping on the opportunity to boost his brand with triggered righty sheep who don't know any better or care to try.

Ever been to Baltimore? This is not a new problem. Camden Yards and inner harbor are lovely. Just don't get lost.
What isn't a new problem? An increase in crime after cutting the Police Budget? When was that done before in Baltimore. Wow are you a sheep....... meh, Baltimore has always had crime - what's a bit more?

It wasn't the 'righties' that came up with the 'defunding the police' term. That's been the battle cry from the 'lefties' for a year now. You admit Baltimore decreased funding by 22 million last year. Now this year they have added 6 million to the budget over what they decreased it by last year, for a net positive of 28 million. NY and LA are doing similar things.

I will agree that Clay Travis plays to his base, but there's nothing misleading about the tweet. Many of these cities are increasing their police budgets above where they were pre-George Floyd, after caving to the mob and decreasing funding last year. It's an admission that decreasing funding for the police was a big mistake.

I know that they didn't come up with the term. Some stupid people came up with it....and a few stupid politicians ran with it. Hardly a "battle cry".

And yeah....the tweet is misleading. No place has actually "defunded" the police. But why call it what it is when your base is gullible?

It was Democrat politicians, who realized the political disaster of “Defund” who said, it doesn’t really mean “Defund”. Dems and their language games...

I can only assume you two are engaging with one of the mindless twits who can't grasp or comprehend simple definitions.

Merriam-Webster; "defund" - to withdraw funding from

Sounds precisely like what has happened in many places, no?

It was a selected few idiots that went with "defund the police". Not even close to a large percentage. Me and several other posters have called that idiotic. Meanwhile....you've stood strong with the stolen election folks that have taken over the right. Not to mention the silence over the Qanon presence that is seeping into congress.

lol no principles.

Dotard alert.

defund: prevent from continuing to receive funds; to stop providing funds

No places have completely pulled funding from police departments. And Baltimore decreased their police budget by a few percentage points. Not a smart idea....but it certainly didn't qualify as "defunding".

Several Dems have called it incredibly stupid as well. Abigail Spanberger told the Dem House caucus it nearly cost her her seat, did cost others their seats and told them never to use the stupid phrase again. And she wasn't reprimand or kicked out of the caucus for doing so.

Yup. There are a few extremist idiots on the left. But they are in the minority. The extremist idiots on the right on the other hand....are becoming the norm. They are seizing power and forcing out the rational republicans. Very sad.

A few stupid politicians such as pretty much everyone running Minneapolis? With several other large cities joining in?

Both bases are equally as gullible, which is why I don't belong to either.

Funny stuff.

Basically the whole leftist caucus on the House side is extremist idiots who are running the show. The former D Party is now the Socialist Party. Biden doesn’t make a decision unless the extremist leftist idiots approve.

They came out against it after letting the city burn for 4 straight nights. A phenomenal display of leadership. They still cut the budget by 8 million, and 3 children have been critically shot over the last few weeks. They deserve a pat on the back, well done.

Yeah....that's exactly what I expect dotards like you to think. Entire party still bowing and kissing the boots of an orange moron who couldn't beat a 78 year old man in an election or even a single debate. lol. Sad, stupid losers of the right.

Clumsy pivot from the "defund the police" claim.

Pivot? It’s directly related.

Mayor of Minneapolis and Governor of Minnesota said nothing even remotely close to "defund the police".

But please keep telling us about how everyone running Minneapolis were for "defunding the police". It's really a winning argument with lots of good solid facts backing the claim....

What quote of mine indicates that I “stand strong” with the stolen election results? When I said I haven’t seen evidence that it was? Is that standing strong?
I haven’t accused you of supporting defund the police, I’m not as pathetic as you, recklessly lobbing allegations at political opponents. I’m just calling out your defense of their pathetic language games. Standing strong with those “few”!!

They had crime before. They still have crime. Therefore nothing matters that was done. What’s so confusing? Democrats don’t do bad things. Sometimes bad things happen in Democrat jurisdictions.
