...Penn State and Northwestern are projected ahead of Minnesota in the conference, which makes no sense in my opinion, especially since Coble is gone. I think the national writers are making way too big of a deal of Westbrook being gone.
...The Big Ten has three teams in the pre-season national top 5 (1. Michigan State, 3. Purdue and 5. Ohio State). The Gophers, of course, beat all those teams last season.
...Minnesota also beat pre-season top 25 Illinois (15), Sconny (18) and Butler (19).
...Hoffarber is ranked as the Big 10's "Best Shooter"

So 8 teams would make it from the Big Ten or we would finish 8th in conference but then make it by doing work in the BT tournament? Not following. They lost me at Penn State and Northwestern ahead of us. What a joke. Sometimes I wonder if any thought goes into these projections.

Penn State should not finish ahead of Minnesota. Northwestern - also unlikely since they are without Coble & don't have much of a post presence ... their defensive issues probably will continue.

I think 5th or 6th is where these preseason magazines should be rating the Gophers. Certainly not 8th.

Who cares? Its some magazine's prediction, let them doubt us. If someone is making a big deal about LW being gone, then they don't really know this team well enough to be making accurate predictions. LW was great, and I appreciate his time here, he helped advance this program, but we are in a new era now. We're going to shock this league this year. I can't wait.
