Sounds like his seat is getting warm in Berkely.

I think the Cal job is a lot like the Gopher job. Both in major markets, at public institutions with nice acedemics, not a lot of recent tradition, with a somewhat limited budget, etc.

Tedford's done a really nice job taking that program upward from an abyss. He took over a Cal program that was in worse shape than MN is now and built them into conference title contender in 2-3 years. He is only 48 years old. He's an offensive guru who runs a balanced attack based on downfield passing.

If he is ready to take on his next challenge and Cal is looking to move him out without having to pay a big buyout, maybe we come in to save the day.

He's a guy I'd have the search firm get a feel on.

I've always been a big fan of Tedford.

He's never had a losing season. His teams usually have a winning record in conference play, go to bowl games, and he's 7-1 against arch rival Stanford.

While Tedford never got Cal over the hump and into the Rose Bowl (their drought is worse than ours) he was very close a few times and had the USC 2000s dynasty as a massive road block.

All this said, he has never left the west coast. Is he willing? That would be the question.

I've always liked Tedford myself as well. Cal has been really solid over the past 8-10 years. Heck they were top 5 for a while last year. I can't imagine why they'd want to get rid of Tedford. But as you know, another man's trash...

Ask Go Gophers Rah for his opinion on the subject.

I don't think we want him. After all, Cal tends to lose most of its away games.

I would be a little concerned that Tedford built Cal while sitting in a state with many, many D1 football players. Having said that, I would be ecstatic to get him.

And many d1a football programs don't forget, one of which is USC. He's been to the bank, so he knows how nice it is. Don't know if we could coax him over to our side, but I'd take him over Mike Stoops or Belotti.
