Cool pic from Golden Gopher Gridiron facebook

I 'like' it. It looks like they are playing in front of the Armory, did they used to practice there?

very cool. that "gibson" on the far left, front row is in fact george gibson. the gopher great that the Gibson-Nagurski Football Complex is named in part after. great historical photo.

anyone know what year that pick was taken? had to be mid to late 20's considering that was the timeframe when george gibson played at the U.

Could be as there was a field there at some point I think. But based on the location of the tower (which appears to be farther off to the north) in the photo I'd bet they were on Northrop Field.

The Armory has always been one of my favorite campus buildings. I had a class in there one time. The ROTC people always seemed surprised to see us there.

It's more than a little depressing that every cool picture of the Gophers is black and white. Every game when the BTN or ESPN does a profile of a Gopher great it's some grainy footage without sound from the 1930s.

It says 1926 on the facebook page.
