Congrats to the Syracuse Orangemen. Well done

Agree, I think I would've tossed if they had made the elite 8. Plus, BadgerinOhioValley would've been over here pounding his chest

He and about 30 other of their arrogant fans. I'm glad the Cuse took them down, it's pretty hard to lose when you knock down 14 3-pointers, yet when the refs don't bail them out, as was true this game, Wisconsin just isn't really that good.

Not clear why you would root for Syracuse, which is one of the few (along with UConn) more cringe-worthy programs than Wisconsin.

Jim Beoheim (IDK how to spell it, someone correct me) is a *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#. Just an absolute *&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#*&^!#.

Still, the lesser of two evils and doesn't act like a complete "A" on the sidelines

Yeah, but with his reaction on Fine when the news first came out, I'm not sure that it is the lesser of 2 evils. East Coast resident at present, so the pro-East Coast bias is in my face multiple times each day on all of the local TV/radio outlets

Tough loss for Wiscy. I will cheer for JT, Jared, and Bruse over Syracuse any day of the week!

Today, ESPN ran a thorough breakdown of Wisconsin's offense that involved counting their aimless passes around the perimeter and gushing over the patience. I'll take the rampant East Coast bias over people confusing taking the air out of the ball with efficiency (especially defensive efficiency) and patience.

I have no respect for the way Wisconsin plays, and I'm glad I won't have to hear more about it. Today proved why Wisconsin will never be elite. They played a near flawless game--maybe their best of the year--and lost.

Point taken. I just think Syracuse and UConn are dirty based upon anecdotal things that I have heard (which I don't get the sense Wisconsin is despite their grinch of a coach), hence my desire to always see those two teams on the losing end.

+1. exactly. bo ryan's scheme is a gimmick. nothing more. without assistance from the officials, it often times doesn't work for them. again, congrats to the orangemen for beating becky.

it is largely a gimmick, but it begs the question of why NCAA teams can adjust for it but Big Ten teams cannot. I realize that part of it is the officiating, but that only explains part of it

Who? Meh...I'd rather talk about a team that is still playing.

It really confirms the myth that Wisconsin travels well. There was very little red in the crowd.

Good luck in New York, Golden Gophers! Pulling for you guys to win it all!

On, Wisconsin!

The three MN players on Wisconsin are three of the most unlikeable players the Badgers have had in recent memory. Brusewicz flops on nearly every play, Taylor is a great player but is the face of the program I most dislike, and Bergren's act of being shocked and infuriated every time he is called for a foul (many blatant) is incredibly tiresome. Good riddance to Taylor and Bergren, congrats to the Orange!

I believe Berggren redshirted and has another year left. He has improved this year. They are getting a pretty high profile instate guy next year although his offer list wasn't impressive. Bronson Koenig the following year although not the greatest competition in LaCrosse. Not sure who is going to get them the ball with Taylor being gone. If Brust starts at the point he won't have as many open looks could be a transition year or two.

No tears shed here. Just can't pull for them. Ever.

nah, that explains nearly all of it. Without the officiating boost, Wisconsin would be a near-.500 team in the Big Ten annually.

I support the big ten either way, I wanted Wisconson to win because I like the B1G. I also had Wisconson in my final four. Reconize the conference man

was really hoping both teams would lose.

+1 million. My future brother in law would call a game like this a "meteor game", where he jokenly hopes a meteor hits the arena so neither team would win.

Loved the look on Boeheim's face when taylor turned the corner, fell down and a foul was called on Cuse. Even the announcers chuckled at the call. Welcome to BADger BB.

It's adorable that you guys had so much fun cheering for Syracuse last night, though it makes sense considering that anyone born after 1990 wasn't alive the last time the Gophers won a game in the NCAA tournament. It must be weird having to live vicariously through others to get a sniff of success.

It's also adorable that you came to this site looking for this exact thread to post in. You knew it was going to be here, and you came to join in on the fun.

I actually came here to confirm that Trevor got his 6th year (which is great for him, and for the Gophers if he chooses to come back) since I saw some rumblings about it on Twitter last night. The fact that you guys are so obsessed with the Badgers that there would be multiple threads about the game was just predictable.

I would not trade Wisconsin for Minnesota's program as it stands right now in basketball and I'll tell you why. Last night we saw the limits of Wisconsin's play, they played about as flawlessly as they could for their type of tempo, and shot the lights out, against a team without their star center. Plain and simple they were out-athleted', they have hit their ceiling. I don't want to be known as an above average program with a gimmicky offense, I don't desire to be known as the Georgia Tech of basketball in that sense. Sure a triple option (passing around the key) offense wears down inferior competition and can occasionally beat good opposition when executed well, but it is inherently limited because of the skill sets of the players on the court.

On a side note the NCAA should really goto a 30 second shot clock, would be better for the game.

I understand what you're saying, but I think that you're wrong. It's true that Syracuse was far more athletic than the Badgers last night, but it's also true that the Badgers are recruiting some more athletic guys right now. George Marshall, a PG who red-shirted this year, is very athletic and has been a standout in practice all year. Sam Dekker will be a freshman next year and is very athletic. Bronson Koenig is a class of 2013 recruit, and he's athletic as well. So I think that you will see an uptick in the athleticism they have to offer.

Let's also be aware that Syracuse was not only athletic, they were a damn good team this year. They were ranked #1 for a good portion of the year and finished with only two losses this year playing in the 2nd best conference in basketball. This was not a loss to Davidson or Butler. This was a loss to one of the top three teams in the country, and it was by one point. Considering the Badgers also played North Carolina very close on their home court, I don't think there is a ceiling on this program.

It's been a while since they have broken past the Sweet Sixteen, but before last night, Syracuse had a drought even longer than the Badgers. Would anyone say that they were a program with a ceiling? Probably not.
