Standings as of 12/11 for "Predict the Score"

Here are the standings for "Predict the Score" over the course of the first eight games. Mom8Pop vaulted to the lead as a result of winning last night's contest ... while this is his first win, he was in 4th place through last game based upon his three past second-place showings (versus Concordia, NDSU and Cornell). Actually, M8P's only blemish is his predicted loss versus Colorado State.

One other note: There were 32 predictions for today's game -- thanks to all who submitted their prediciton in the requested format. With that many participants, it's much easier to get the scores collected and do the post-game calculations of who won and how many points to award for the season-long competition.

And, finally: congrats to goldenfuture5 and Wiscbearsfan17 both of whom predicted 14-point spreads. On the whole, the board was optimistic and the average spread was 21 points while the median spread was 20 points. Generally, we've been closer than that so I think the Cornell victory caused the projected scores to inflate a bit. Actually, we've been pretty close to the Vegas line (when there's been a line) on other games. But take solace: CBS Sports predicted a much tighter margin (70-63).
