Just finished reading Phil Miller's write-up (Strib's beat reporter for the Gophers) for today's game and was struck by how it did not focus on the game at all but the coaching "death-watch" now apparently more-than-underway at UM.
The program as reflected by the HC's reputation is in a coma and the "do not resuscitate" order has come down from the family, apparently earlier this week.
Whether the feeding tubes come out this week or next, the family has decided there is no quality of life that remains. Just a matter of when to pull the plug.
Not trying to belittle "end-of-life" situations that everyone will face at some point, but this was what came to mind.
Funny how a mere 6 weeks ago most (but not all) of GopherNation would have gladly taken 6-6 this particular year calling such an outcome success on "The Road to Pasadena."
In the meantime, there's a game that I hope the Gophers do win. I don't think it will change anything regarding the HC's future...we've got a "the tribe has spoken" moment on the horizon...[Khaliq, see if you can pull that one off when the word actually comes down
]...but a W should always be welcomed no matter the circumstances.
Go Gophers! Beat the Boilers!
