per the Columbus Dispatch:
Jet engines aren’t equipped to David Cobb’s cleats. The Minnesota running back is more sledgehammer than burner, and his persistent and pounding running style reflects his college career path.
Success didn’t come quickly to Cobb, a senior who’ll be at the forefront of Ohio State’s defensive plans when the No. 8 Buckeyes (8-1) play at Minnesota (7-2) on Saturday in a matchup of Big Ten divisional leaders.
Cobb is ninth nationally in rushing yards per game (133.9), and his grind-it-out production is at the core of a ball-control offense that has spurred the Gophers’ continued improvement in Jerry Kill’s fourth season as coach.
“They’re going to run the ball over 80 percent of the time on first down,” said former Minnesota coach Glen Mason, a Big Ten Network analyst. “Out of those runs, 90 percent of them are going to be between the tackles. David Cobb is a good running back. He’s a tough running back.”
