One big reason Braziel has his team taking on all comers -- aside from personal pride -- is junior shooting guard Jacob Thomas. Thomas averaged 22 points per game as a sophomore and is at 21.5 ppg this season. He is 6-2 and looks to still be growing. Against Minnetonka, he scored 30 points -- half of them coming on five three-pointers -- and had games of 37 and 40 points earlier this season.
Thomas has since drawn some Division I interest, but he only has one school in mind: Minnesota. The Gophers have shown some interest, Braziel said, but Thomas' future is still very much tied to Columbia Heights' present.
Go Gophers!!
