per The Coloradoan:
He usually waits until Sunday morning, when he starts watching video of the next opponent, to shift his focus to the task at hand.
Not this week.
“The problem this time was I’d seen Minnesota play on Thursday night, so all I could keep thinking about Saturday night was how Minnesota played Thursday night,” Bobo said Monday. “So the ‘pause and celebrate’ didn’t last as long as usual.”
Instead of visions of quarterback Nick Stevens throwing five touchdown passes against Savannah State or his defense scoring a touchdown on the game’s second play with a fumble recovery in the end zone and sacking the Tigers’ quarterback seven times, he kept replaying the success of Minnesota’s offense and defense.
The Gophers this year, he said, look a lot like every Minnesota team he can remember, going back to that 2004 team that featured future NFL running backs Laurence Maroney and Marion Barber. They overpower opposing offenses with a big, powerful offensive line that opens gaping holes for the run game. And their defense has a strong defensive front that is difficult to run against and a veteran secondary that held up well against star TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin and an explosive Horned Frogs’ passing attack.
“Very, very impressive,” Bobo said. “They’re sound on offense, defense, kicking game. It’s going to be a tough task for us this week. We have a lot of work to do to even give us a chance to be competitive on Saturday.”
