Mark Cuban and it sounds like he is involved. They have the Kelley School of Business which is highly regarded.
 





Do you know if those are just football numbers of if that includes football and basketball? If basketball is involved I could see that helping Indiana and Michigan State.

Will be interesting to see if Indiana can sustain this success or if it is just a flash in the pan.

As for believing the numbers.....I don't put much stock in anything published about "NIL".

Minnesota needs to breed new sugar daddies.
 









I don't think sugar daddies deploy their $$ into collectives, as a general matter. See Ellison re: Underwood.

Collectives reveal the general wealth of your graduates.

MN isn't terrible in that regard. But it is not nearly what it could be. ...Too much leftist pursuit of mediocrity and irrelevant goals. For my entire life.

I don't think that's the reason at all... Our NIL is doing great in the context that Gopher athletics competes with so much other attention for pro sports. This isn't a college town 100+ miles from the nearest pro sports team, and yet we've had a good amount of success. We'll never have blue-blood levels of support for our athletics or anything near that but I'm tired of people pretending that our NIL is a dump scraping for pennies. We're fine.

Not scraping for pennies. We're "not terrible" as I said.

But, is it not the case that Michigan is well within 100 miles of Detroit? 44 miles, to be more exact. decidedly within Detroit's media market. Do you think no one in Ann Arbor watches the Lions? Do you think no one in Detroit watches the Wolverines? Pro sports and college sports can coexist and thrive.

But Michigan runs their university very differently than we run ours. VERY. And that is all the difference.

What are the core differences in how Michigan is run that you’d like Minnesota to emulate? as public flagship universities, they have more in common than they have differences in my opinion.

For starters putting a massive emphasis on football, basketball, and hockey related sports. Give them the funding they need to consistently compete in coaches wages or even going above that.

Start a heavy campaign for donors and do what needs to be done to bring in that money. U of M is one of the top 10 largest universities in the country, we have a massive alumni base and I’m sure many millionaires / billionaires. No reason we should be lacking in resources or funds

The Gophers could be the richest NIL team in college football for the salary of the Timberwolves' Jaden McDaniels. He's the 4th highest paid player on a presently .500 team.

A lot of the money Minnesotans and area businesses have to spend on sports entertainment go to the area's endless array of pro sports teams in virtually every North American league.

All of these schools are outside their state's center of population, except Ohio State and they only have the crummy Blue Jackets hockey team. Austin's big too, but no pro sports.

If a brand wants to market using sports, they are going to use one of the huge number of local pro athletes. It's tough to compete as a collective of fans by passing the hat among the many when so many hands are already looking for the sports dollar. That small dollar donation in Alabama becomes Vikings tickets in Minnesota. That leaves finding a single sugar daddy to fund the whole thing as a personal toy.
 


If I win Mega Millions, we can leap frog all of these teams, no problem.
