For a D tackle just fine, for a cornerback? totally unacceptable. he needs to be handed a clipboard. You can not ever be 3 steps behind a receiver, not when he releases from the line even against an option team. Sorry but time to realize that he is a major league problem for this team.
I'm going to amend my comments. Ryan played better then 50/50 tonight. He just got caught up on a well designed mult-action play. His bad luck is, it happens in such obvious places. Which is understandable playing his possition, but being three steps behind just screams blown assignment.
My disappoint comes from the fact that Collado does seem to have a couple of huge burns, one this year, one last year. I was hoping that somebody would have passed him, for the nickle spot, but it is a lot to ask of a true freshman. Cornerbacks get beat, it happens. It is just the 3 step burns, versus to be in position but just got beat to the ball.
I can count several plays where Collado played great, step-for-step defense on pass coverage. When a team runs 90+% of the time, it's inevitable that a player of average ability will get burned on the paly action. I was unhappy, but I can sympathize considering how he was doing otherwise.
