Seems like everytime the Ducks play someone this year the coach gets fired.
Oregon State - fired
Oklahoma State - fired
Penn State - fired
Wisconsin - hotseat possible near term firing
Minnesota - hotseat possible near term firing

Do you think this is due to the NIL and Portal? Guys that can win quickly these days are in high demand, those that take longer to build a program seem to get fired. Thoughts...

Building a program, in the traditional sense, is looking like a fool's errand in this NIL era. You can't preach delayed gratification to players who are being instantly rewarded.

I do not think your analysis of flecks seat heat is accurate

Some fans think he should be, within his administration I don’t think his seat is even room temp. It’s cold
Well, Kirk Ferentz made sure that there was heat directed towards PJ'S seat nine out of the last ten years. PJ being 1-10 in this rivalry definitely affects his recruiting prospects in Southern MN and IA.

You think the admin is thinking of firing him?
I don’t

Oregon State is 1-7 this season and was 5-7 last season.

Oklahoma State is 1-7 this season and was 3-9 last season.

Penn State has very high expectations.

Wisconsin is 2-5 this season and was 5-7 last season. I'm not sure their coach will be fired though.

Minnesota was 8-5 last season and has a pretty fair chance of having a winning season this year (Thank God for the favorable home schedule). Minnesota does not have high expectations.

Oregon will beat us 55-3
Life coach PJ will say it's all on him but everyone on the team had fun and gets a participation award.
@Some guy & @btowngopher will make 7000 posts here about how pj won't lose his job
Life will go on as normal but I agree his seat won't even be warm because pj runs a clean program.

Do you disagree that it isn’t hot?
I’m not saying it shouldn’t be hot. I’m saying it isn’t hot

For fleck to be fired in the year 2025 it would probably take an off the field event IMO

Well, the admin shut down the "Public Health School of Bias" when it turned out that the founder was a plagiarist and others in the administration were hiding/actively ignoring it because the narrative was more important than integrity. So there are standards of behavior out there.... somewhere.

What?

I agree it isn't hot yes. 100%

You're talking like the admin has no standards to which employees are held accountable. I'm presenting a case that suggests otherwise.

What are you talking about?
Like I know what you’re saying but I do not understand what that has to do with the football program

Yeah if fleck was involved in fraud he would probably get fired?
You are correct?

As others have pointed out, Fleck is not on the hotseat at all right now and won't get fired after this season without some sort of off the field incident or a spectacular collapse where we get blown out by everyone left on our schedule which isn't going to happen when 3 of those remaining 4 games are aganinst MSU, NW, and Wis.

I'm saying you are weighing a 1-9 record in a legacy rivalry far too low. NIL money doesn't follow the record, it follows much more, such as status, bragging rights, recent rivalry records, things that matter to donors. As important as getting an education is, if you don't win on the field against regional rivals, then you are losing program.

The Gophers have horrible losing records against Iowa and Wisconsin. What donor, that has a business in Minnesota and deals with businesses in Iowa or Wisconsin, is going to feel their NIL donation is going to make a difference to changing that trend? They are going to abandon boostership of Gopher Football, and probably most other Gopher Sports, for other D1 schools in Minnesota.

The administration now realizes how important money is when it comes to running an educational institution. Anyone who drives money away from the school, be it academic or athletic, is a liability.

It's Win, Baby, especially against Iowa and Wisconsin, and donations will be freer flowing. Winning is the culture that matters.

Um, remember 2023? Fleck's team fully has the ability to collapse against mediocre competition once a contending season is out of reach.

It would not happen with this either. Which is fine. Only one data point.

I haven’t really said he won’t lose his job, but I agree with others, even if he has a total collapse this year I think he’d still be given another year.

Good thing there’s only like one prospect a year in southern MN.

If that happens this year I think he will enter 2026 as the coach but needing more success.

I think two 5-7s or worse in a row is what would end up doing him in with this AD

A 3-9 or 2-10 would maybe do it in one year

Better chance Fleck is hired away than he is fired or even has a warm seat.
