Kilgore and Murphy don't bring same things that Dasher brings to MTSU. Won't run like Dasher does, but both are outstanding passers with much JUCO experience. Gophers are preparing for both guys.<o></o>

MTSU is an outstanding football team with good receivers and running backs. There is a lot more to this team than just Dwight Dasher. MTSU is excellent on defense.<o></o>

Sid asked about the TN heat. Coach says team is in great physical shape. Hot days in MN have helped prepare team. Team has done everything they're supposed to do to get ready. "It's time to go play".<o></o>

Running game is much improved, and seeing the tough running everyday helps the D prepare for tough running teams in Big Ten.<o></o>

Weber is more prepared than ever before in his career because of Jeff Horton. He's sharp mentally and physically healthy. <o></o>

Gray made great progress practicing with WRs last week. He will play a ton of WR this Thrusday. Brew said he won't be standing by him on the sideline a whole lot.<o></o>

Frosh that will play on Thursday include James Manuel in the secondary and Kirkwood will get some carries.<o></o>

Sid goes crazy here yelling at the fans...telling everyone about who will be on the show later today, and then asks Brew again about the frosh that will play (Dave had just asked this...)<o></o>

O-line is prideful and worked hard in offseason. Expects O-line to be a strength of this team. Jeff Wills worked hard and brings leadership. Jeff has a nutritionist that has helped him with his eating. Burris at center should have a good season. Wynn can play anywhere on o-line.<o></o>

9 new starters on D. Are talented but inexperienced. Going to have to grow up fast. Tinsley, Kirksey and Rallis are really pushing their D teammates to work hard. Hageman is 100% after an ankle sprain.<o></o>

Mike Carter has matured a large amount. Had to work hard with him on practicing hard and being consistent from play to play. <o></o>
<o></o>
Royston is doing well. Close to being ready to play but still not sure he will play on Thursday. He may not play for SoDak game either.<o></o>

Chemistry on this team is really good. <o></o>
<o></o>
Orseske is talented and had a great camp. Ellestad's leg is stronger and getting more distance on kick-offs. Accuracy on fg's is good.<o></o>

It appears this squad may have the best depth of any Gopher squad is awhile. Most are young and untested. I always look for a team to improve as the season progress's. Not the cast the past two seasons. Maybe we will see that this Fall if the O executes Hortons simplified plan and the D grows with game experience to go with the young guns.

Getting excited to see all the new players on the field Thursday.

Great recap

Thanks very much for taking the time to do that.

Seeing some of the highlights from the scrimmage....Gray looks like he not even running hard.

Now just hold on the to the bleepin' ball!

That is a key (as usual) to winning Thursday...no turnovers...can't wait for the game.

Thankfully DirecTV has that channel in the base package. I'm good with that trade of dropping ESPN Classic for ESPNU...more college football is always good with me.

Great recap, but you left out my favorite part. Someone at the fair asked a question about recruiting big time players and mentioned that he had a bet that the Gophers would win 6 games this year. Brewster kind of tapdanced around the recruiting "we're building relationships around the state, we're working hard", etc. But he ended his comments by saying "Gordy" (I think that was the guy's name), "I think that steak dinner is going to taste mighty good."

Had Brewster said something like "well, if we get the right breaks and so forth it's possible, blah blah blah". He didn't dance around it. I think he expects this team to outperform expectations, just like most fans do. Whether they get there or not is on Brewster and his players, but I like the confidence he's showing in his team.

Gray and Defense (at least against MTSU)

I believe Gray will be on the field for almost every play. He will line up at WR or QB. He is our tallest WR and fastest in raw speed.

Our OL and DL will be pushing MTSU all over the field all night. Our very deep lines will still be fresh long after MTSU's are exausted.

Our DL will have Kilgore running for his life.

MTSU will have no idea what to do, and this game will get out of hand fast...34-10 Gophers.
