"Glen Mason won eight games, had a win over rival Iowa, and finished in the AP Top-25 in his third year."

Let's see how things go for Brewster in 2010. If he wins any less than seven games, he's going to lose even more "fans." It's no secret that I don't care for Brewster or his "rah, rah" tactics. Wins don't come around simply because you want it more and sound the most positive. Wins come by having better players than the other team. I'm completely confused as to why people keep predicting that Minnesota will win 7-9 games. Most preseason publications have the Gophers picked dead last in the conference, including Sports Illustrated. Why are people ignoring these predictions. Believe it or not, these journalists for SI, Yahoo and Sports News do know what they are talking about. The Gophers aren't picked last because they have potential or possible sleeper talent. They are picked last because they have inexperience all around the field and a crummy QB.

Brewster doesn't have "rah rah antics". It's part of a coach's job to help promote the team. I know the local media hated him from the start for being optimistic. But attempting to please this media is foolish.

There's good reason to not think highly of the predictions in the magazines. There's simply nothing there. Just assumptions that replacing 9 starters automatically equate to being awful. Little effort is put into these predictions, they all seem to be copies of each other.

We get it. You hate the Gophers.

And how about that baseball team? You posted about the baseball team stinking http://www.forums.gopherhole.com/boards/showthread.php?t=15825 but didn't have one word to say when the team won the Big Ten regular season and tournament title.

no need to try and reason with such a douc&e, just tell him what he is and move on

I can agree with one important point: You're confused.

Given the schedule the team has this year, there are major caveats that your gross generalization misses.

Its not just the # of wins, but WHO those wins come against. If we win 6 games this year, but 3 of them are OSU, Wisconsin, and Iowa - I think its safe to say, there's some significant progress. If we win 6 but they are against MTSU, SD, NIU, NU, Purdue, and Illinois, then things appear more stagnant.
