Central Michigan loses its football coach to Cincinnati for the second time in three years. Ouch.

At least you didn't lose your football AND basketball coach to the same school, a la West Virginia...

I hope Central Michigan and Cincy at least start playing some non-conference games. Turn this into a rivalry.

Butch Jones was the guy I wanted in the event that Brewster was fired after next season. Guess I'll have to reconsider.

Surprisingly:rolleyes:, there's not the wailing and gnashing of teeth that accompanied the Kelly hire. No "how dare Butch Jones hang CMU out to dry for that all-important GMAC Bowl."

I guess some people just love to hate Notre Dame.

central michigan and cincy are in two complete different situations when compared to each other. not even close......

I understand that Cincinnati is in a much higher-profile bowl. But when it's all said and done, neither Cincy or CMU will be able to claim anything better than "best loser." Had Cincinnati qualified for the national title game, and Kelly still left for Notre Dame, I could understand the outcry. But it's really easy to point fingers when it's not you who's giving up the millions of dollars in salary and the prestige of being the head football coach at Notre Dame.

So you don't think it's hypocritical for Cincy fans to blast Kelly for leaving, and then turn around and welcome Butch Jones with open arms?

Jones probably realises that he would have to do one hell of a good coaching job next year if he stays. I still think we(central) will have more talent than most MAC teams, but we're losing quite a few major contributors.

On a side note. What a rewarding bowl game after a great season for us... The opportunity to play Troy?? Really?

I would rather play a close loss to a good BCS conference school than get a win over Troy(who may be good team) but no one cares about.

Well of course you would, but that's exactly the same reason why no BCS school wants to play Central Michigan.

It's like the fat girl with acne turning down a guy because he has braces.

Of course, and I understand this. I just think its unfortunate that Central couldnt get matched up with a BCS school... For instance Northern Illinois(a team we beat fairly handily and finished well ahead of in the standings), is matched up against South Florida in the international bowl. I dont think USF wants to play a team like NIU but obviously they accepted the invite anyways.

All and all still happy to have a game I care about to watch during bowl season, as I wont be able to get the nfl network:rolleyes: once again...
