Chris Monter: Minnesota football continuing to target top in-state talent

Hope the news on Rallis is he just wants to enjoy a few visits. If not, why would he be looking around?

Even if Rallis just wants to enjoy a few visits, that is going to piss kill off. Who knows what is happening with him. There are rumors swirling from a long time ago that he has not been a solid verbal anymore. Time will tell, but we are certainly not as much of a lock per say than we were last year when he committed.

Maybe Kill encouraged him to make sure he was committed. Maybe his big brother doesn't like the 6am workouts as much as we thought. I'm thinking the former.

Does he even have a verbal from kill? From what I understand with Kill, once you commit you are committed and expected not to take any more visits to other schools.

I shouldn't be annoyed by this because afterall, the kid "verballed" his sophomore year in high school and in the time since he has a) gotten older (a million things can change between years 15 and 17), and b) we have an entirely new coaching staff on hand. However, I do find myself a little annoyed that he'd be looking at Wisconsin.

Either way, stay or go, we will be just fine and Gopher fans will welcome with open arms all who choose to represent our squad.

Why are you guys assuming he has a scholarship offer from Kill? From the way things have gone it is pretty obvious he does not currently hold an offer from the Gophers and thus he is looking around. Pretty standard stuff here. Now, why the hell Kill didn't offer him early...... I don't know, hopefully his offer comes sooner rather than later. Obviously Kill isn't sold 100% on him right now or he would have at least been invited to one of the "special" Jr days.

If he doesn't have an offer yet, then he should - if you haven't seen his film (you tube him), it's a no-brainer on talent alone (especially if you consider some of the other guys they offered this year to fill the class), not to mention that he is a legacy recruit (big bro)..

Thus, yes, I am assuming he does have an offer from Kill and Co, and if he doesn't, it would seem very odd to me.

I know he is very good, but clearly Kill is planning to look at Safety prospects more closely before using the scholarship. Just because you look at his tape and deem him scholarship worthy doesn't mean Kill has right now. Kill has not extended a lot of schollies at this point in the year so it is definitely not that surprising that Rallis didn't get an early offer from Kill. I'm hoping he ends up in M&G because he is worthy of a scholly here and I like MN boys that can play, but if he had an offer from Kill right now I GUARANTEE he would not be wasting his time with Wisconsin Jr Days. Hopefully Kill pulls the trigger before summer camps, but if not, I would expect Rallis to earn one there.

I'm irked too Rallis doesn't currently have an offer from Kill, I'm just trying to lay it out there like it is.

Rallis still is a committ on Rivals

I'm pretty sure that the offer Brew had given to Rallis no longer stands with Kills staff, and they will be evaluating him for a while. Have no clue why as he looks like a solid player.

I think that is a pretty difficult thing to know one way or the other. His looking around could certainly be a sign that we haven't offered yet with this staff or maybe he is just second guessing his decision a little bit.

I'd be pretty surprised if Rallis didn't have an offer from this staff but it's entirely possible that they haven't and it's entirely possible that Rallis might not be 100% committed even if he did get an offer.

It still shocks me that adults will rip on high school students when they are deciding on a college. Its a huge decision, and he probably wants to get to know the coaching staff before committing four/five years of his life to them.

And who has ripped the high school student?

Is speed a factor with Rallis? His .40 time isn't listed on a quick Rivals search

We probably won't know for a long time what is happening here if ever. Kill is a class guy and I'm sure he'll do what is right in this situation. At the same time, can you imagin what the uproar would have been if Kill hadn't retained Hamcock? If Kill would have known or had an inkling what Hamcock was up to, he wouldn't have hired him. He merely would have said thanks for your contribution to the Gopher program etc. Meanwhile the whole board except for the trolls would have been in an up roar over this. I think Rallis's situation is one of those where we just have to sit back and watch and hopefully everything will play itself out.

I really don't think so.

I think Nick's future is at OLB. He is already the same size as Mike when Mike walked onto the U. (6'0"ish and 200 lbs). I'd imagine that Nick will be about 205-215 by next year at this time and probably closer to 220 when he walks on campus. I had always thought that Nick was a bit more athletic than Mike as well. So, I don't imagine speed would be a huge concern for Nick.

If you really want to think that Rallis has an offer from the staff at this point you are free to do so

Well, obviously, but that really wasn't what I was saying. I was simply saying that no one knows whether or not he would be going on other visits if he did have an offer. It's not a big deal, this will work itself out, I just don't think it is beyond the realm of possibility that Rallis would have an offer and he still wouldn't be 100% committed.
