OK I admit this is a lil off the wall - but ...

Nolen and Hoff get to choose up sides for the tipoff.

Nolen gets first pick but cannot choose Joseph because of Pt guard separation and balance.

To stagger and balance out picks >>>

Nolen gets pick 1 4 6 7 10 12 & 13 (Numbers balance out for top 4 picks) >> Total number for rank of picks = 53
Hoff gets picks 2 3 5 8 9 11 & 14 >> Total number for rank of picks = 52

Nolen Team ------ Hoff Team

1. Mbakwe ------- 2. Joseph
4. Sampson ----- 3. Iverson
6. Hollins --------- 5. Williams
7. Armelin -------- 8. Walker
10 Eliason -------- 9. Osenieks
12 Dawson ------- 11 Ahanmisi
13 Halvorsen ---- 14 Stark

I really hope that more students would show up this year than did last year. It was such a sad picture to see only a few students showed up for such an important event. This a Big10 team not a division II basketball team. Please be there to support the team.

My son and I are coming over from Wisconsin--and really looking forward to it!

Umm..there were a lot of students there last year. Certainly more than usual for this thing.

I'm bringing 3 of my friends to the event. When something is free, it's pretty easy to convince fence-sitters.

I will be there!

This will be my first year going though and just had a few questions. Is the event free for anyone and everyone? Or do you need to be a ticket holder, alum, etc.? Also how does the seating work? Is there a student section or is it just everyone sits anywhere?

Thanks to anyone who can help me out with these questions!

Free admission - open seating - first come, first served.

My only question is - why did they change the time? Last several years it was 7pm - maybe 8pm for scrimmage.

Lots of young kids there last year - autograph signing lines filled with lots of kids after the scrimmage.

10 pm is a little late for the younger demographic (to say nothing of the older one).

I went there last year with my family and friends. It was really cold so they let us in early. When the doors openned, we picked the seats that were closer to the team's bench that Coach J was coaching. I don't recommend those seats because your view gets blocked by the 7-footers. We will be higher up this year. It was free and will be free for everyone this year also. There is no seating chart. You can sit anywhere you want. I might have been wrong but I assumed that students were sitting behind the basket that Rodney invaded by his dunks last year. That's why I thought that the number of students was low. There may not be a student section at this time. Other people can answer this better than I can.

if you want students to show up, dont have it at a stupid time, friday night by itself hurts you which is why no school charges for such an event, theres never any demand. 10pm is alot better. give the kids time to drink before hand, or drink afterwards. besides the little kids thing probably drives alot of students away. theyre kids here now, they want to get the autographs, not wait in line behind hundreds of 8 year olds.

Free admission for everyone and their grandma!

The later start-time this year is because of the Gopher hockey game that night. They are trying to allow people to go to both and make a night out of it.

Because of the poor performance of the football team, I'm extra excited for basketball to get underway!

Don't go dissing D-II

I must say I have been to the midnight madness or late night shows at the D-II level and have not seen a crowd under 2,000. So I am not sure I would be saying anything about D-II schools if the Gopher students cant show up to give props to a Big Ten team. I think that is a big problem with the Gopher Athletics in general. The students always have some excuse for not showing up. Location of stadium/arena, can't drink, time of event, and the list goes on and on. I find it interesting what a small interest most U of M students have in the athletic programs in general. Some fans are great dont get me wrong but the percentage is very low.

I wasn't. I actually went to Belmont that used to be a Division II program. We did have a great crowd showing up for the games and other events. I just thought it was sad last year that we didn't see as many students as we see at Purdue or MSU madness. Hopefully, things will be different this year.

Friday night

I will definitely be there. But, then again I go every year.

I believe Men's Hockey has a game that night which could put a dent in student attendance.

For whatever it's worth Trevor tweeted last night and I suppose it's missing a few teamates-

" Goldteam"

me mav mo chip and devoe

Presuming of course he was talking about sides for the scrimmage.

If that's the case, I assume maroon is going to be our starting five.

Did you miss that Devoe is on his team? Devoe is about the only no brainer starter.
Disagree.

The starting lineups in Vancouver a month ago didn't have Devoe in the starting lineup once. It was Nolen, Hoffarber, Williams, Iverson, and Sampson for all 3 games if I remember correctly.

Do you actually think that Devoe won't start?

Disagree.

Devoe will definitely start the majority of games. Since the whole money thing wouldn't exactly work out, we'll return to this subject later in the year. Unless Rodney is a whole new player, he won't be taking Devoe's spot for long if he is indeed starting ahead of him.

I'll put money on it that he doesn't. Looks like Tubby already has his starting 5...based on Vancouver starting line-ups, and the teams that Trevor listed.

Never said he wouldn't. I said, to start the year, it appears as if Tubby already has his starting lineup. However, maybe things will change?

It seems pretty weird that Tubby started the same people (Nolen, Hoffarber, Williams, Sampson, Iverson) all 3 games up in Vancouver, while Devoe was seemingly healthy, isn't it? Why else wouldn't Tubby try to get his legitimate starting 5 some PT together in their first real games of the year?

Joseph was hurt on the Canada trip, they weren't even sure he was going to play. He is no doubt a starter from day one.

For my team I choose:

Nadine Babu, SS, FOT, missedlayup, Section19, Blizzard, and Tony Dungy I picked missedlayup because we need a waterboy.. :)

He didn't play like he was hurt, I don't know why he didn't start any of the three games.

Joseph led team by averaging 17.3 ppg for tour, so I guess that settles things about him being healthy. He shot 54.5 percent from the field.

Hoffarber (13 ppg), Mbakwe (11 ppg) and Iverson (10.3 ppg) also averaged in double figures in three games. Walker led frosh with 8.3 ppg.

Walker is a big dude, but not athletic. If he doesn't pump fake, then he's going to get swatted in the post in the Big Ten.

I agree, if Devoe doesn't start it would be most likely that Rodney earned his spot and I don't see that happening.

Captins Nolen and Hoff are locks to start.
