The Gophers likely need a lead donor for their big facilities wish list, and the most obvious candidate is billionaire alum T. Denny Sanford. But that’s where things become murky.

Teague has overhauled his fundraising department with the goal of expanding the donor base. It’s also no secret that winning spurs financial giving in college athletics. The Gophers need to become more successful in their two marquee sports.

The athletic department is planning a statewide caravan in an attempt to reconnect with its fan base and jump-start fundraising. Teague clearly loves this part of his job and said he’s “ready to roll” again after finding a new basketball coach.

Now he can only hope that Denny Sanford eventually feels the same way.

Go Gophers!!

While it doesn't help, by no means does this ruin anything. If we cannot get facilities built because we only have ONE donor that would contribute a lot of money, we have greater problems.

The type of plan Teague has.. you must have a wide base to draw from. Despite Scroggins using the terms "frustrated" or "angry" about Sanford, we have no reason to believe he mixes business with his passion for the U. When you become successful as he has, you cannot mix business with other things.. I trust he is the same.

We'll see.

It isnt really that you need that one big donor to fill a hole. What the big donor does is allow fundraisers to go to smaller people and say "we are 40% there, would you like to help" If you dont have that then you are going to the smaller donors asking them to start the pile.

anyone else find it eery that the only ones to responds to this joined the forum in Nov 2008?

Wonder if there is a technical cause to this coincidence...like the whole site reset in Nov 2008...or if it was just a fine vintage for great Gopherholers?

GIP is right on the money. The whole site updated and modernized and everyone had to re register and start from scratch with literally a new and improved GopherHole. This is one of the reasons for Admin to request, in a fund raising campaign, to encourage everyone to donate a little, because a lot of littles become a lot.

All one has to do is go to the DONATE, click on it, and pitch in.

There's something to be said for being an 'old-timer'.

To be a doctor
Oh what a thrill
To undress a man's wife
Then send him the bill
